Hi,
I have a pendant dilemma and I would really appreciate everyones opinion.

I want a everyday bezel set diamond pendant. When trying some pendant sizes, ( these were in 4 prong baskets) I felt that 0.20ct was too small, 0.30ct was ok and that 0.50ct was a bit big but would probably get used to it. ( They did not have any 0.40ct to try on).

The thing is I am on a very limited budget, but since I do not have any requirements regarding color ( actually prefer warmer stones and if light brown I would be ecstatic), do not require eye clean and don't expect a good cut, I should be okay.

Well, I had a stoke of luck so now I could use a stunning ca 0.90ct OEC https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/1928-oec-solitaire-ring.157775/ that I could use for my pendant. The thing is I feel that it is too big as a pendant but am I being silly?

I have seen a pretty 0.35ct OMC that hopefully won't go up to much in price, but would it be too small? Should I hold out for an 0.4-0.5 ct diamond. But if I thought the 0.50ct that I tried on to be on the verge of too big won't I think that a 0.50ct plus a bezel will definitely be too big?

I do live in Sweden where my diamonds are already the biggest most of the time and my studs are 0.25-0.30ct total and I like that size. I have tiny earlobes and the space on my chest is also pretty short ( although the rest of me ain't petite, go figure).

As you can see I am doubting myself so any comment would be appreciated.

Hi Natascha,

I've been following your story on the gorgeous OEC you recently won at auction (congrats btw!) and personally I think it would make a gorgeous pendant.

I recently had a .69 OEC bezel set in a pendant and I love it. Even though I don't like huge rocks, I think .35-.40 is a bit on the small side for a pendant, as the decolte is a pretty large area. The stone I have has a nice presence without being huge. Ultimately, go with what feels right for you.

Just out of curiosity, what is that strange amazon link doing in your post?

Good luck with your decision process! :))

P.S. Good luck in your interview! If we didn't take a leap of faith now and again (with ourselves too!), we would never get anywhere.

I think you might want to revise your link. And if it is to an ebay stone. Don't post it at all. Someone might steal it from you. We'll take your word that it's lovely. Or you can win it, ask the buyer to hold on to it, and then post it asking for opinions. And if you don't want it just tell them buyer you want to return it (without it being sent out). This all assumes that the buyer is reasonable, and has a return policy (a must in my opinion).

Thank you for the compliment and the well wishes. I tried to find some photos of your pendant but could not find any. I would love to see it, it sounds drool worthy.

The thing is I have a 3 ct rhodolite pear pendant that was made to be attachable to my future diamond pendant for when I want a bit more omph. The area above my cleavage is pretty short, from the base of my neck to my cleavage it is just 3-4 fingers width, but you might be right. I will have to go try on some more pendants.

I was trying to link to my OEC, no clue how it became an amazon link

No clue where that link came from, I was trying to link to my OEC. Thanks for the tip regarding ebay, since I have been lurking for years I have realized the dangers but always good to think about. I do no dare buy from ebay since it would be extremely hard to return from Sweden, when I wanted to send my OMC to the US I ended up flying to Spain to do it.

I already own the OEC, but am strongly considering selling it if I do not use it for the pendant. It feels a bit wrong to take it out of its original 1928 setting that I love, but I won't really wear it as a ring.

What size diamond is in your engagement ring? That is how I decide on pendant size! (I agree that it is sad to think of taking that diamond out of it's setting. But even if you sell it, someone else may do it.)

I would use the .90 OEC. I wouldn't worry about taking it out of its setting as whoever you sell it to could take it out. But, could you take it out without damaging the setting? Then if you could someday put it back into the setting, if you wanted... I have a .57 solitaire (engagement ring) but I would think if I wanted a solitaire pendant, I would want it to be bigger. The chest area is a lot larger than a finger, so I would think it would look smaller than on a ring...
