My new fiance is curious about storage of her ring. What does everyone do when they aren't wearing their ring? She is wondering what to do with it when she goes to the gym or is doing something that might harm it. Pocket? Purse? on a Necklace?
Thanks!

So, I'm not engaged yet (but hopefully with a month), but I know my mom rarely takers her ring off. Even if she goes to the gym. I've always wondered about this - do people wear them to bed and while taking a shower? I know in the rare instances she does take it off, she puts it in its ring box on her dresser.

BTW, I think it best if we do NOT post our secret hiding places.
If I was a smart burglar I''d so a search here for suggestions.
Mine too. I also do not sleep in mine because the first time I did I scratched my face open on my prongs.Date: 3/26/2010 1:18:27 PM

I guess it depends on the person, but I take them off. I don''t wear them while sleeping, and I take them off while running, doing hot yoga, showering, cleaning, and so forth. Sometimes if I take it off for some reason when I get home from work I will just leave it off all night. My husband takes his off for the gym and while sleeping, cooking, showering, and so forth as well.
I don''t like when rings get ''gunky'' (from shampoo/conditioner) and things like sheets can cause wear on certain rings, etc. That, and certain chemicals (chlorine, household cleaners) are harsh on certain metals or stones.
Oh, and depending on what sort of metal your ring is, etc, I would be worried about lifting weights, etc with rings on - I have seen some rather squished rings that are dented out of shape because of stuff like that (or far less abuse).

Sure, no location is 100% safe, but I believe that's no reason to throw your hands up in the air and leave your valuable jewelry in a jewelry box on top of your bedroom dresser.
Some places are more likely to be checked than others.
Improve your odds.
Get creative.
LOL! It''s an interesting option!Date: 3/26/2010 1:33:27 PM

Ha, maybe you need to just wear mittens to bed (like babies wear so they don''t scratch their faces up).

Don''t ever put it in a pocket or on a necklace or any other place on your person except your finger. If you are going out and will be somewhere you think it will get damaged, then leave it at home.

I have a secret hiding place I put my ring at night when I take it off. I don''t have to put it there 2 or 3 times a day, just once. If I take it off during the day to do dishes or something, it goes in the ring bowl next to the kitchen sink.
