Hi again! First of all, thank you to those who've helped me with the purchase of an e-ring from WhiteFlash. It was beautiful and I wouldn't have found it if it weren't for you guys.

Fast forward to the present, I'm looking for gemstone jewelry (possibly topaz or sapphire) for my fiancee for the wedding. I'd go to WhiteFlash again but they specialize in diamonds. I'm looking for it to come with white gold this time around.

My question is where are the ideal places to find them in terms of quality of value? I'm located in NYC so would you recommend the diamond district or Chinatown? Or online such as BlueNile, Ice.com? Or local retailers such as Zales?

I'm getting such mixed reviews so I don't know where to turn! Help? Please?

Are you looking for a ring? What style?

Most colored stone folks select their own stone and setting seperately. There are a list of gem vendors up in the sticky
section.

For a setting you can go with some of more popular ebay vendors that CS people use or go to someone like
daniel M (etsy) and have something made. Just depends what you are looking for. We need more details.

Thanks but I think loose stones plus separate settings might be out of my price point. I'm interested in earrings, bracelets, and a necklace. Perhaps something in the 200$-400$ range.

I heard Blue Nile is over-priced and am not entirely sure of the quality of Zales

If you want already made I'd check out etsy.com. Please stay away from Zales...the problem with them is that they probably won't know the quality (or lack thereof) of what they have either!

Just to clarify...you want one of those items or all 3 for $200-$400? Do you have to have gold or will sterling silver work?
Gold has gone through the roof lately!

If you want all 3... I assume you want them to be a matching set?

White gold would be nice but not a necessity. Yes, a matching set, since my fiancée would hurt me if not.

I was thinking 200-400 for each piece

I truly dont know any chain jewelry stores that would have good stones. I wish some of the other colored stone folks would
chime in. I dont think you will find matching sets at the usual PS vendors.

Daniel M on etsy would be able to make a set for you but not sure if he has the stones. You probably would need to supply
the stones (colored stone folks can help you find some).

matching set but with ring instead of braclet

here is another little set

braclet - I'm sure he can do this in whitegold...you would have to ask him about cost

http://www.etsy.com/transaction/47535305 /* pendant */
http://www.etsy.com/transaction/41216005 /* earrings */

He can also do prong set if you dont care for bezel

http://www.etsy.com/transaction/35764626 /* necklace */
http://www.etsy.com/transaction/34582957 /*earrings*/

You said topaz or sapphire but you didnt say what color.

Here are pairs of topaz for earrings...or for pendant and braclet.

It's going to be a little challenging in that price range but not impossible. The quality of the stones will not be the best but you'll still get a better deal online compared to B&M stores, Zales and possibly even BN. Here's a decent place for a completed piece of jewellery and they stock some ready made earrings, pendants and occasionally bracelets.

You did not specify if you wanted blue sapphires, so I've linked you to the sapphire page where you can select according to colour. The link to the finished pieces are on the far right.
