Does anyone have a recommend for a diamond recutter-repolisher in the Chicagoland area? Any recs would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Not in Chicago, but Brian Gavin Diamonds. Please contact them, I have done 2 recuts with them (currently on my 3rd) and they came out amazing each time.

Lambie, I had a sapphire recut on Wabash after chipping it (twice... !) several years ago. All I can remember is the guy's name is Victor. Let me see when I get home tonight if I have any paperwork on it. I don't think so, but I might because I never throw anything away, LOL.

Was it Victor at Windy City Diamonds? He is wonderful. The shop and the bench are very, very good!!

I’d also contact Stan Perkins at M. Martin & Co 5 S. Wabash—Jeweler’s Mall). He recently bought the business from Steve Martin, but he’s been with the company for over 20 years now. Stan sent my sister’s sapphire to a local cutter when she knocked a gash in hers on her granite countertops. o_O Stan is great to work with!

Yes, Brian Gavin in Houston. There are many jewelers who touch up gemstones. But if I want to recut a diamond into an ideal cut, I'd use Brian Gavin because I can't think of anyone else who recuts to that quality level. It takes several weeks, but the outcome is worth it.

Unfortunately I can't find any paperwork on it, but it could very well have been!

Depending though Lambie on what you're cutting, BGD may indeed be a better option if you're willing to go the route of shipping, etc.
