Am looking to purchase a Princess cut diamond, D in color and VVS2 in clarity. The polish
is excellent and the symmetry is very good. Is $1500 a good price for the diamond? Thanks.

we need to know what size you are looking at? Those are very high specifications, so $1500 won''t get you a ton of size.

If you want 1/10th of a ct you might do ok.

Sorry, the diamond is a 0.51. You can tell I''m new at this, huh?!? Thanks.

I''m one of the fussiest on here regarding colour and clarity, but I''d say that D VVS2 is unnecessarily good and the high price will reduce the size that you can buy.
I''d drop to F VS2; I doubt that you''d tell the difference - apart from the cost!

I need this size to replace a stone I lost. I can afford the price; I
am just curious if I could get it at a better price. Thanks.

Straight up on top of this page.
You can get a ball park diamond price check

I checked; the closest color they had to the "D" was an "H." The
price was $1300+, but the girdle was listed as "thin." The girdle on this
one, I believe, was "medium." With these factors, how does "my" diamond
stack up to this one? Thanks.

Hi dyb

No way to properly judge this stone without images such as detailed photos and an ASET image, is the diamond for sale online or from a jewellery store?

Ditto to Lorelei - a lot of the price in the diamonds listed on pricescope will reflect the quality of the cut. Its not all about just getting the lowest possible price for a diamond of a given color and clarity, its about getting the best-cut diamond for your money - an ideal-cut diamond of a lower color and clarity will look "better" (i.e. more sparkly and lively and also larger because an ideal cut helps maximize spread of the stone face-up) to most peoples'' eyes vs. a very high-color, high-clarity stone that is less well cut.

The stone I am looking at is small - 0.51, "D", "VVS2",
no cut grade on report, "excellent" polish, "very good" polish,
68% table, 72.3% depth, medium-slightly thick. Is it worth
the asking price of $1500? If not, how much? If so, am I
getting a good deal--if so, how good a deal? Thanks so
much for your time. Happy New Year!

I''m sorry, that was "excellent" polish; "very good" symmetry.
Thanks.

Unfortunately again no way to judge the cut without images and cut quality can make or break a stone for beauty.
