I need to know from someone a little more knowledgable than myself if the price I have found for the engagement ring I am looking at is reasonable or not. Please advise. Thanks in Advance.

GIA Certified Diamond
1.72 Carats
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Symmetry: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Set in Platinum Solitare.

$15,000.

The price looks good. A traditional platinum setting will run around $350-500 plus the cost of mounting the diamond. Make sure the cut is good on the diamond and it should be a winner!

Thanks for your response -- Anyone else have an opinion?

If the diamond has a top make (AGA Class 1 or AGS 0), then the price is reasonable. If the make is a Class 2 or less, then you might have a little haggling room left. Either way, you're not getting "hosed".

The way to find out about the make is to request information on the crown/pavilion height-depth/angles.

Also, what are the specs listed on the GIA cert regarding:

Fluorescence
Table size
Girdle thickness
Culet size
