When reviewing an ASET and Ideal-Scope, what does it mean if there's a possibility for a bit of painting apparent?

Painting? Please clarify..

Garry said "There is possibly a tiny bit of painting apparent, but that is technical and means little." I'm not sure what that means. Does anyone?

Thank you good sir! Maybe that was presumptuous to assume a "sir". If so, my apologies...

In any event, I really do appreciate the link.

@flyingpig - thank you for the article- it was a lovely read

In a side note, is that a stone you're considering buying, @Brad Hoem ?

Is there a reason for such high colour and clarity? (E IF)

You could probably drop down to a G or even an H in a very well cut stone and still look identical in colour face-up, and anything better than VS1 will look identical to the naked eye!

Painting that would impact optics would appear a mit more green in the upper half facet region on a round brilliant. This one looks ok. This attachment shows one that would attain AGS 1 for this very reason and happens to be a picture perfect H&A.

Again, yet another reason I love this website: The information, links and discussion that is provided in this forum are exceptional.:read::clap:

Thank you both for this info!

It is definitely painted. But all diamonds are painted to a certain degree. This includes the most well cut super ideal cut diamonds.
Like Garry said, "there is ... a tiny bit of painting"
Nothing to worry about.

If you really want to learn, then...

8*

I just received the Ideal-Scope images for this diamond. Can anyone let me know if these look OK too?

Go for it

Just to quote myself to check your thought processes:

fascinating, I love learning new things! So painting was done to make sure the diamond hits the 2ct mark?

Very poor H&A's photos - nothing like Ideal-scope, but any reason why you are ignoring the people telling you to go ahead?
The diamond is currently listed as being in in Mumbai and if anyone else wants to buy it from under you they probably can.

Very interesting thread and sorry to bother, is this because GIA code starts with '62'? -( Mumbai.)
Sorry not a competitor here, don't worry, to OP.

Wow, you learn something new every day!

Actually most of the best photos and reporting of additional info comes from India from large manufacturers. And some of the worst or none at all comes from places that are meant to be modern
