Hello,
I am shopping on-line for a diamond and found 3 ROUND BRILLIANT, 1.5ct diamonds I like but I must chose 1. They all are excellent cut, VS2 and color is G.
The only problem I have is the measurements part. I don't understand it and how does that play into chosing a diamond. All are very good symmetry and polish. They all cost about the same too.

Here are the 3 contenders:

7.30-7.36x4.63mm
7.29x7.34x4.55mm
7.18x7.27x4.52mm

ANY HELP would be a BIG HELP! Thank you!!!!!

assuming a round cut, and based solely on that info, i would pick the second one, because it is not as deep as the other two and more round. however, more information is really needed to make a real choice.

would more info help, on getting advise? Let me know pls.

hello,

yes, the more information the better. are these stones certified? if so the reports will have all kinds of useful information on them.

also are you looking at these stones online, or at a local store?

These stones are on-line and they are all certified GIA. The one you said you liked I can have sent to and independant appraiser to recertify it.

dont do anything like that on my account, i am just another guy on the forums giving an opnion, by no means an expert. i would assume all the GIA certs are good.

I still like the second one, assuming they are all close to the same price.

Hey, Skippy,

I went here to punch in your info. Consider doing the same. Of your original 3, you have only data for 2, and only one shows up on the GIA machine. Initial presentation is a bit promising, saying GIA regards it as an excellent cut. But then, your #1 option does very badly on the HCA.

Notes here on diamond buying, but basically, for a purchase of this scope, and with a lot of data generally pretty available from reasonably accessible, free, sources...don''t go home without it.

I think I found a good one. Regular guy do you think certificate 15037715 GIA sounds good?
This is what comes up when I type in the info Selected: 62.2% depth, 57% table, 35° crown angle, 40.8° pavilion angle

Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 1.7 - Excellent
within TIC range

Actually I would like a G in color. You have the right price.

Had a feeling you were going to say that. Hard to go from very good cuts to AGS ideal that faces up like a 1.5 without sacrificing something. Will look some more.

I think I like this one!! Have you bought from Blue Nile before? Were you happy with them Julie N?
I recently lost my ring after 7 years of being married. We were both sad. I want to try and duplicate my old ring, but the center stone will be a little bigger. Hopefully I can find something great! Thanks for everyones help. If anyone finds something please let me know by sending links.

That one seems good. Since it does well to have other options, I would also ask for the GIA reports on:
http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/diamond_Details.aspx?itemcode=6472645

http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/diamond_Details.aspx?itemcode=11238693

and if they check out on the HCA, I would then have them brought into Whiteflash''s office for review.

I''m sorry about your old ring.

This stone is a little bit small...I would stay above 7.3 mm if you want the 1.5 ct look. It is also important to see pictures, moreso in the case of GIA graded stones, which Blue Nile doesn''t provide, so I might pass on that one.

thank you for all your help!

Just wanted to stop in and say it looks like you''re doing well, and getting good advice.

Keep up the good work.
