Hi All. My wife and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary this year and I would like to give her a pair of earrings. I have been looking all over at various sizes, shapes, colors, websites, etc., but want some of your thoughts. I visited a local Jewelry exchange that I have worked with in the past. They had diamond inside out hoops that were 14K white gold, 4.29 ctw, 7/8" diameter oval shape with 20 round colorless diamonds (they show D but somewhere in the colorless range), 21 pointers each. They gave me a price of $5,000, which seemed low compared to others I have seen. I feel like I can trust the jeweler as he has been around for 25+ years in the same spot. I have done business with him in the past for some smaller pieces. (Picture attached - The earrings are on the right side of the pic).

The jeweler that made my wife's engagement ring and wedding band, as well as a lot of items for other family members offered to make one in 14K white, 18 stones, 24 pointers same diameter for a ctw of 4.35 for $6500. Obviously a lot more $$, but definitely added trust. Would love to hear thoughts/feedback. Thank you!

If your wife values brand names, Tiffany’s makes a really lovely inside out hoop. They come in rose gold and platinum- I think they were $9k which is certainly steep. Here’s an ear shot for scale - I don’t own them as I went for a plain gold hoop, but they felt blingy but also nice for everyday!

I think the quality of the diamonds makes a big difference. I’d also check out Whiteflash, Brian Gavin and IDJ

Thanks for the suggestions. I will take a look!

To me, $5K seems too low for the carat weight and color described. I would ask to make sure they are not lab grown diamonds. Or if they are, at least know that is what you are purchasing and be okay with it.

Those look killer on you!

Another option to check out is Roberto Coin. If you live near a Saks or Neiman Marcus, they both carry RC so you can see exacples in person. Bloomingdale's might carry them too. Many other small, family owned jewelry stores carry the brand as well. I think RC is a good middle ground between Costco and Tiffany. And the RC's are 18K which I personally prefer to 14K (its a mind clean thing -- 14K is only 58.3% gold; 18K is 75% gold).

Here are a pair of Roberto Coin hoops I bought pre-loved a couple years ago. They sparkle nicely, though I'm not gonna lie, if I had had the extra money I would have bought Tiffany. Like I said, in my opinion, RC are a middle ground between Costco and Tiffany.

Thanks for your input! I spoke with my primary jeweler today, and she agreed the stones in the first set of earrings are definitely not the same quality at that price point.

Totally agree that the price is too good to be real.
I have a pair of 20 pointers, 22 pieces, total 4.4 tcw, D-E, VVS-VS, purchased few years ago, almost USD9k.

I love such hoops.
Versatile & so easy to wear day or night.
What a thoughtful hubby you are

Hey Lucida,

I'm looking to upgrade my hoops and the specs of yours sound great, just what I'm looking for. Do you mind sharing who makes yours?

Hi @RunningwithScissors
Sorry for late reply as I am still having vacations somewhere.
The hoops were purchased in Bkk few years ago (pre-covid) from an upmarket mall jeweller. Diamonds aren’t super ideal but workmanship is great.

I did! Thank you for sending though. I had my jeweler make a pair and she loves them!
