Sounds like a generic topic. But I ordered the following diamond from JA for review. I will post the idealscope as he sends them to me. Please do let me know what you guys think. It is a major purchase, and I don''t want to go wrong.

Shape: Round
Carat weight: 0.93
Cut: Ideal
Color: G
Clarity: VS2
Certificate: AGS

Depth: 61.5%
Table: 54.3%
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Girdle: Thin to medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Neglible
Measurements: 6.29*6.32*3.88

Crown Angle: 35.8°
Crown %: 16.6
Pavillion Angle: 40.4°
Pavillion %: 42.4

I know it is deep, however on HCA it was 0.8 and inside the AGS ideal. The picture looks eyeclean ofcourse. I wanted to know the disadvantages really in getting something that is deeper however with a smaller table.

Thanks for any help.

Actually, not just inside AGS ideal, it is AGS ideal. (and not that deep). And, an FIC, I do believe. The consequence, as others may better define than me, is modest compromise on spread for it''s weight. But the semi-unique advantage was sought after by another poster current today...it will give more fire.

Consider asking Jim to also bring in and compare against this one. But, the combination of AGS pedigree and FIC characteristics makes your pick engaging.

Thanks, for your advise, I did email him to pull that diamond as well to take a look at. The one you posted is just outside the AGS ideal, but is GIA excellent. I will post idealscope as they come along.

hmm the crown and pavilion angle are a little off where i''d like to see them...but you will most likely still find this stone very appealing, very fiery. some say that with such a shallow pavilion that the diamond may be better suited for a pendant than a ring for performance wise...but your eye will tell. when you get the stone, look at it in all lighting situations and make sure it performs as you prefer in various lighting situations. good luck!

Thanks mara, I am hoping to have it in a pronged bezel setting with light pink diamonds as a halo on rose gold shank.

I will post more images and scope images as JA emails them to me tommorrow.

Clarity: VS2
Certificate: GIA

Depth: 60.9%
Table: 58%
Polish: Excellent - Ideal
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Thin to slightly thi
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.21*6.24*3.79

Crown Angle: 33.5°

If Someone can comment on the idealscope and the comparison, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

interestic fic! not usually what we see around here but i''m sure it''s very nice. please let us know what you think once you get it!

belle, please elaborate. I am a novice at idealscope, so beyond the basics of the tutorial I don''t know how to analyze these. It is a huge purchase for me, and I want to make sure that I don''t make the wrong one.

thanks

sure. fic is fiery ideal cut, which you can read more about here (if you haven't already)
as far as the idealscope, you can tell that neither are perfect h&a but they have pretty good symmetry and not a lot of leakage.
between the two..i really don't know which one i would pick (maybe the first?). they have different looks due to the minor facet configuration (you can tell by the arrows..very close to the center on the first one and farther away from center on the second) and your eye may or may not prefer one over the other. if there is any chance you could see them both, you should do it. otherwise, perhaps you could ask jim to go over them with you to describe the differences.
best of luck!

Thanks belle. I asked Jim. He said the .93vs2 was a little better. However he could not recommend one over the other. I am really stuck because I don''t know which stone to pick. I don''t think I can get both. I do like the .93vs2 more, I feel that technically it might be better. It is also ags0, however it is about $800 more than the second one. Really I think once mounted It won''t matter much either way.
