The reason to choose one over the next is that thicker girdles eat up raw material that never shows - but then, many other factors add up to determine a dimamond's size so... why just look at girdle thickness separately ?
Also, lots of variation in girdle thickness (say, thin to slightly thick or worse) might hinder symmetry - but not necesarily. If this is the case or not depends on the girdle outline and the shape of the diamond - if there are corners there , then the girdle thickness must vary. And... so on.
What are the choices here ?
