Hi, newbie here. I am looking to buy a white gold diamond earrings and I have no idea about jewelry. Is there store online you can recommend?

It might be better for you if you ask the mods to move this to RockyTalky.

This sub-forum is for non-diamonds. :)

What weight and budget? Clarity and color?

If you have no clue about diamonds and want a pair of matching studs, it's probably best to contact ID Jewelry with your budget and tell them that you want "pricescope quality" matching studs in the G-H or H-I color range (depending on your color preferences) and ask them what size you can get for your budget. Then pick out what type of setting you want (martini style, basket style, etc.) and leave it to them. Many people on this site have ordered from them and been very happy with the quality. That's probably the easiest way to go.

My husband bought me some studs a few years ago from a local store. He could have gotten so much more for his money from IDJ. But what’s done is done.

What is IDJ?

ID jewelry in NYC.

What size do you want? I have bought many diamonds from blue nile.

Thank you for the comment. $500 is just my budget. Do you know any reliable online store?
I don't think you can purchase diamond earrings for $500. The setting would cost $500 -

You can get close if you buy pre-loved. Check out the 18KT White Gold pair in this listing on LoupeTroop. You could try offering her $550-600 and see if she would take it. Nice pair of .5 ctw studs, which is a good size for everyday wear. Most people on this site recommend between .5 and 1 ctw for everyday wear, as they're large enough to be noticed but not too large for casual outfits.

Also check out these. .4ctw, but they're in an illusion setting which will make them appear larger. And only $200! :)

You could buy these with your budget now, and then save up until you can get something a bit nicer. I somewhat agree with @Queenie60 that $500 is a bit low for a nice set of studs, although $500 just for the setting is a bit of an exaggeration unless they're platinum. Ideally, you would want about $1500-2000, which would get you a pair of high-quality diamonds (within the cut specs recommended on this site) in the .70-.80ctw range with 14k white gold settings, which is a great size that many people on this site wear every day. :)

I love the specificity of this posting. I guess I just have not been paying attention to what the Pricescope recommendations for diamond studs are. TreeScientist, can you post exactly what those recommendations are? I would just like to have them down in writing. I realize that one can choose the metal one wants for one's setting. I also already have my own studs, so I am not looking to buy a pair. (I went through a painful process of having huge [for me] and unmatched studs of 1.25 carat per ear and then downsizing to .50 carat per ear, which worked much better.) I just want to know "the ideal" for Pricescopers.
