Diamond Dimensions

What should i be looking for in a diamond in terms of dimensions that would maximize the size of the diamond on the finger? I've seen 1.8 carat stones look bigger than 2 carat because of the dimensions and cut but am unsure of what the ideal proportions should be. Any help would be great!

Most people here would advocate for choosing maximum light performance over maximum spread, though there is some variation in the proportions of well-performing stones, and you will want to use the HCA tool to weed out poor performers, while also looking for stones with a diameter on the higher end of the recommended range. Others can chime in with specific numbers.
