Hi all
Like many others I need the forum's experts to critique and advise re the diamond I already have bought.F3AE0408-F792-45B1-AF7F-3F7B5394D85E.JPGDD43C9CD-8BAF-4E7F-A8D0-C65E2633F2E9.JPG287D0B32-A217-41A5-9E1C-991BC115DD83.JPGFF72B21D-915C-4F6F-AA58-9812C567767B.JPG5027A4D0-1BD8-42E4-9A0D-CD7CB807B5B8.JPG880DE08F-860F-4F61-A9E4-C9BE553F6DCA.JPGAE3ADB14-566C-4082-8272-DEDF73B54AE8.JPG9EA01101-BE62-4971-8F1F-14EFD91A7B06.JPG9999F6DA-9F38-46F4-9889-A99417A1BFAE.JPG
I'm a complete novice and sadly came to know of this wonderful forum a little late(ring is already here) but not too late since It can still be returned(if need be since it's not been even a week and wife does not know of it).
The diamond has been bought from a store, they say full price of stone can be used towards an upgrade.
I want to know how the forum grades the stone as good, ok or bad which can be difficult to assess with specs and ametuer pics alone but I would really appreciate comments from people who know about diamonds.
Secondly, I would like to know if my stone comparable to a or b or ?
A. https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3817253.htm
B. https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3641636.htm

Based on your advice I'll have to decide whether to continue searching or be content w it.
Thank you again for all the time and effort put in for me.
Cheers!

First of all, how sweet of you to be surprising your wife with this. I'm sure she'll be thrilled beyond words!

The setting you've chosen is so classic and a good proportion for the center stone. The center stone you have now is not bad at all. The crown is a bit shallow so less fire. The table is also a bit larger than ideal, but the stone looks clean. For the best analysis, you'd want to get an idealscope of the stone. It also depends on how much it cost and what is your budget. If alternative A is within your budget, hands down go with A out of the three. A Cut Above is just that, a whole 'nother level of ideal and sparkle. You might check if they have other ACA's close to the parameters you want. You won't regret it.

Great photos btw!

Your stone score 1.2 on the HCA which is a great start! I think it looks lovely, personally. Would the Whiteflash stones be in budget? Sounds like you can't return for a full refund anyway?

You did well. 59/33/40.8 is not the most ideal, but still top performing even among GIA ex cuts. Depending on the price you paid, it is a solid stone to consider.

Thanks for the replies and advice.
The ring is within their 30day return policy, hopefully returning should not be a big issue.
Seems Flyingpig and Snowdrop feel it can be a keeper for the right price while erisLynn would not consider it.
Do you feel it's price should be lower than the second WF stone? and
Is second WF stone a better stone than what I have..?
Thanks again for helping me out.!

For me, the price you paid should be lower at least 20% than WF stones you listed.

Hmm
The first WF Stone is approx 20% more expensive than the second WF stone that is priced as 22k

So you're estimating between 18-20k for my stone?
Thx. I get the idea!

No, the first stone is a super ideal in house ACA at 28k. The second stone is from virtual inventory at 22k.
You stone being a normal gia x should be around 22~23k, which is about 20% lower than ACA, depending on how you calculate. This is consistent with a quick search on James Allen site as well.
You will not get a 2.5 I VS2 under 20k. 22~23k seems fair
