I''ve seen this diamond but, as usual, everything looks great under jewelry store lighting conditions. Based on the stats listed below, should I proceed with this purchase or choose another stone? (I do have another in mind with better better stats but size greatly differs. This stone being the larger one of the two). As this is an upgrade, I need to purchase from this vendor....which is fine, not an issue.

Crown angle: 34.46 (34.16 - 34.77)
Pavillion angle: 40.67 (40.57 - 40.75)
Crown Height: 15.4%
Pavillion Depth: 42.8%
Depth: 61.9%
Table: 55.36
Star ratio: 51.1 (49.8 - 52.84)
LGF: 75.3%
Girdle: 3.7%

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Not sure about the minor facets...but otherwise...how much better could the stats be? Looks good to me.

I guess I just have some uncertainty with the 40.6 pavillion angle.

Isn''t the angle closer to 40.7? I''m no expert but it gets a 1 on the HCA with 40.7. Isn''t that good?

Yes, and yes.

I''ve seen some great stones with those numbers, but without an IS image, I can''t say this one will be. But it does have potential...

egs1,

The 40.67 pavillion is an average. It is the average of these figures 40.62, 40.57, 40.66, 40.72, 40.75, 40.70, 40.69, 40.64. The crown angle of 34.46 is an average of these figures 34.52, 34.64, 34.38, 34.46, 34.16, 34.29, 34.50, 34.77. There seems to be more variances within the crown angles??? Am I splitting hairs at this point?

DHS,

Won''t comment further since my knowledge is limited to HCA and GIA reports. Sorry I can''t help more! Maybe someone else can tell you if those variances are ok.

It looks like a reasonably tight cut stone.

I think an IS image may benefit but there are good chances this stone will perform satisfactorily.

I wouldn''t be worried about the pavillion angle of 40.6 if the visual appearance in different lighting, up close and at a distance look alright to you.

I worried for ages about a pavillion of 40.6 in a stone that is shallower than yours ... and at the end of the day, it was a stunning diamond.

more variation than I like but not enough to kill performance too bad if it averages right.
An IS image would help otherwise if it looks ok up close the pavilion angle isnt an issue.
