Hi all...this is my first post here and would like to know if the 1st diamond (D color grade: $1,010) is considerably better than the 2nd diamond (E color grade, $930). It seems to be a considerably better diamond for only $80 difference, but I'm not sure and that's why I am here! Many thanks for any assistance.

If it makes a difference, both of these diamonds are through James Allen.

I so wanted to say the D stone because it was bigger, better color, fluorescence, and I love smaller tables, but it only scored a 2.5 on the HCA vs the 1.0 HCA score on the other stone. So definitely stone #2.

Have you requested idealscopes?

The second diamond is the better value. It's less deep than the first, so even though by carat weight it's smaller, it faces up nearly the same size as the first diamond. An E will be very, very white, and you're not paying a premium for the D color. In a stone that is less than a half-carat, I think a slightly larger table makes the diamond bigger and brighter looking, especially in diffuse lighting conditions, such as an office.

I agree. Go for the 2nd diamond. The stats are better.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply, this is great news! Do I request ideal scopes through the seller?

Yes. (Just FYI, the first stone is discounted due to the medium fluorescence, more than likely.) You can still ask them to hold both and send you the idealscope images for both. You may as well compare those, too, before eliminating the D stone.

Pictures, Ideal Scope?

As many of you have suggested, I think I'm going to go with the E diamond. However, when I look at the 360 degree video of the diamond, I see two strange things on the table (one looks like a black spot, the other like a gray one). I'm attaching photos with the spots, but it's really hard to see. If you go to the website and use your cursor to move the diamond, you can see them clearly:

Are these a part of the diamond? Ha ha, I'm pretty clueless to this, so many thanks again!

Update: I just spoke to a representative and those are inclusions that are not noticeable to the naked eye (since it's a VS2 clarity). I also put it on hold and requested an ideal scope.

yep. they aren't noticeable. these diamonds are viewed under 10-20X magnification that we sometimes forget that inclusions look more serious than they do in real life.
