Which report is more accurate an AGS Report or a Sarin Report?

AGS would be considered the more accurate. A Sarin machine may give a slightly different reading because of calibration.

AGS also uses Sarin, no?
And I don''t think they calibrate the machine for each diamond...

I think AGS uses helium..

Thank you for the update, yssie!
I didn''t know that.
But if it''s the case, they should make ALL the information available.

Yes!!

I want one of those printouts with numbers in size 6 font plastered all over it... I suppose I'll have to start budgeting for something from GOG

From reading here, I''m lead to understand that although AGS has helium, they more routinely use Sarin (which also has different quality levels...one would presume AGS'' to be their highest) because use of Helium is more time intensive.

Although it might be anticipated both AGS and someone else use Sarin, generally, I think the required calibration would just be expected to be done more reliably and frequently by AGS. But, measurement error can happen anywhere, sure.

I bought 2 diamonds for earrings, AGS Ideal 0, Hearts and Arrows (I have not received them yet). I put the dimensions in on the Halloway Cut Advisor from the AGS reports for both diamonds. They both received the same grades of excellent on light return, fire, scintillation and very good for spread. One diamond scored a 1.1 and the other diamond scored a 1.4. As an afterthought I put in the dimensions of the diamonds from the Sarin reports. The diamond that scored a 1.1 scored a 1.4 which was fine because all the grades remained the same, however when I put the dimensions of the second diamond in from the Sarin report it received a 1.8, this diamond only received one excellent which was in light return and the rest of the scores were very good. I am thinking there is some margin for differences. The website I ordered them from said that there would be differences in the two reports but the AGS report was considered more reliable. I know my diamonds are going to be beautiful and I will never see the difference. I just wish the scores remained the same for both reports.
