Can I get some opinions on this stone. It's for Blue Nile, and it's selling for $4,054. I'm having them check to see if the two crystals are eye clean. It's a .7 on the HCA

The cut definitely sounds right. I would worry a bit about the SI2, but this lower clarity is compensated by a great price. In my eyes, definitely a winner.

The answer to any question about the relative value/beauty of this diamond is contingent on how visible the inclusions are and if they bother you.

Yes, I am guessing that the inclusions will be visible to the naked eye.

From my experience most SI-2's will not be eye clean.
Many SI-1's will not be eye clean.

For eye clean stones many people have to go with a VS-2, depending on the diamond and ones visual acuity.

I disagree about worrying on the SI2......ask the right questions, and there is no need to worry.

Is the stone eyeclean? What color are the inclusions? What kind of inclusions are they?

If you do your homework and the answers are satisfactory, no worries at ALL. I own an H, SI2, and it's completely eyeclean.

There's really no risk to you because BN has a 30-day return policy. It's worth getting the stone in to see for yourself. Some people are more clarity sensitive than others.

I'd have to take a bit of issue with Brian's comment about staying to VS2. There have been COUNTLESS folks who have purchased SI1 diamonds that were eyeclean.....it's NOT as rare as some vendors (with a vested interest in the premium on VS diamonds) make it sound.

Brianknox didnt say anything that the other vendors havent said.
The vendors have to put a lot of work into finding the eyeclean si diamonds.
The odds of getting an eyeclean si diamond drop shipped and not hand selected are not that great.
As a general statement he told the truth but as with any general statement there are exceptions it just happens that the vendors we like hunt down those exceptions for us.
Sometimes we get a little,,hmmmmm how do i say it,,"spoiled" by the time and effert the often recomended PS vendors spend finding diamonds we will like.
That is one of the way kewl things about PS :}

Two nicely hidden spots and an SI2 price - sounds good to me !

Ok. if you want the stone to look absolutely clear from all angles, including upside down - this may not be it. However, this one should need an attentive look up close and personal to see anything in it - at least as far as one can tell from the pic.

Given that what amounts to "eye clean" is often a personal perception, I am neither surprised that both lower and higher clarity grades are sold and bought all the time. The choice amy be more hype and expectations than anything, especially that those plots leave allot to the imagination.

I am a bit puzzled by the cert picture: I see a patch of a GIA report, with a sticker from a Sarin reading, but what's with the note about clarity? If it was GIA's comment it wouldn't be written there

Don't give up!

There are true eyeclean SI-2's out there, but they are few and far between.

Call some vendors/jewelers that stock diamonds, as this is exactly the type of goods that most jewelers with inventory will buy for stock whenever possible.

Think of clarity as not an exact grade but a range, and in that range there is the good,the bad and the ugly.

Many times when showing a customer a "good" SI-2 they will comment how it is cleaner than other SI-1's they have looked at (the bad and the ugly)
