Can anybody give me an idea of what the ballpark diameter of a halo setting would be with a 7.8 to 7.9mm center diamond.

trying to see what the max size would be for my wife, she has very slender fingers and wears a 5 3/4 ring. I thing her ring finger is just about 1/2' across. We were thinking 8-8.2mm diamond but that's gonna look way too big for her.

thanks

That's going to depend on the setting and the designer. Victor Canera makes a VERY delicate halo. If I needed to keep my diameter that small, I'd go with him.

Verragio.

Also check out Simon G, some of their halo settings are fairly delicate adding only about 1mm all the way around.

FWIW- I wear a size 6-ish ring and the mm measurement across my finger that it takes to get full coverage over the curve of my finger is 17-18mm. I had a halo setting with a 12mm diameter at one time set with a 7.5mm stone, and that did not go across my finger all the way, so you've got a little leeway.

S/w Verragio rep, they said the halo will add about 3mm to the outside diameter, so a 7.8mm becomes 10.8"" 8.2mm 11.2mm so .42" vs .44". Think we will be fine either way but that's nearly full coverage of her ring finger. I am thinking in a halo I will stick to the fvs1 7.8 vs the 8.2 gvs2. I don't think the look will be different in that setting.

Thanks

Just wanted to add I have a size 5.5 ring (true size is actually 5) with a 7mm diamond in a halo with total diameter of 10mm and I'd say its about 55% finger coverage. Since your wife has slightly more finger width to work with, I think it will look fine if the total diameter is 11mm.

Hi Titan7,

Perhaps I missed it … but this is so dependent upon personal preferences, has your wife tried on different halos? If not, I think it would be a good idea to try some one, before pulling the trigger. Many places online will even have 'duplicate' rings that you can borrow/purchase for a nominal fee to try them on and get a sense of what looks best.
