Hi Everyone,

Well as if my DH did not have enough stress going on with being laid off, trying to find a new job and getting ready to move with me to VA, his Grandpa who is the apple of his eye was admitted to the ER tonight. This man is one of the kindest, sweetest, funniest, most respectful men I have ever met in my life. He had what is called Cellulitis which is essentially a bacterial infection (same strains you would get with a common cold that is not viral based) on the lower extremities that enters the blood stream through a cut, bite or crack in the skin. It can have an onset of less than 24 hours. In his case, he all of a sudden could not walk because his legs and joints had swelled up so badly. In fact, it has affected him so badly, they had to transport him to the ER via ambulance. He was admitted to the hospital and now we are waiting to hear something. I lost my grandparents one day apart from each other in 1993 and that continues to be one of the most devasting memories in my heart. I have grown to love this man so much that the thought of him passing away just makes me ill. I am trying to be strong and not let DH know how upset I am but it''s just causing me to have terrible sharp pains in my stomach. Would you guys mind thinking good thoughts and saying lots of prayers for him?

Thanks and hugs,
ulualoha

Sending prayers, ulualoha ...

And if it helps any, my Dad actually just had a bout of cellulitis himself about a month ago, and he recovered perfectly (he''s 67). He was in the hospital for almost a week on IV antibiotics and then they sent him home with more antibiotics to take. They told him that he had a pretty bad case and that if this had been 40 years ago, he would''ve had his leg amputated!! Medication and rest can definitely work, so have faith ... HUGS!

Hope your hubby will have a speedy recovery and goes home soon!

Just know we''re thinking of you...sending prayers up that you DH''s grandfather gets better quickly. Come back and talk with us if you need to.

Please keep us updated.

Love to you,

My thoughts are with you and your family.

Big hugs outgoing...I had cellulitis after a car accident when I was 22. Had a tennis-ball sized swelling inside my knee and couldn''t figure out what had happened, my skin didn''t look broken or scraped. 24 hrs. later started watching a red line go down my leg, time to go to the ER for a shot of cipro in the booty, then ended up having to take celebrex and vioxx (tg I wasn''t on it for long, we all know that stuff will kill you), and things turned out fine. I hope your DH''s Grandpa comes out of this ok, I''m sure he''s receiving proper care and treatment. You''ll all be in my thoughts!

Wishing him a quick recovery.

Sending prayers to your DH''s grandpa, to your DH and to you. Hang in there, hugs!!

Sending out prayers too.

I think if he is in otherwise good health he should respond to the antibiotics, but it must be amazingly stressfull!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I hope he (your husband''s grandfather) is well again soon. I know my grandmother had this, but I think I may have had this, too... a decade ago when my daughter was quite young! I remember being at Yale New Haven with her to see a geneticist and being on oral antibiotics. My arm was swelling while I was there and I asked the geneticists if I should go to their ER!!!

I don''t think I am imagining the diagnosis! At any rate, best of luck!

Hi Everyone,

First of all thank you all for your kind wishes and words...I just noticed that I wrote my DH went to the ER....I must have really been stressed! It was my hubby''s grandpa.....I am so sorry! I am happy to say though that his grandpa was released from the hospital today. He does have to continue with antibiotics daily. Luckily his daughter is there to take care of him. Anyhow, continued prayers would be awesome...I thank you all so much for being so kind and so supportive! Sending you all many hugs and well wishes for a a great day tomorrow!
