My friend (one looking to upgrade) likes this setting. Was wondering though what it would look like set with a cushion or an asscher... anyone with random time on their hands and some software who might be willing to show us? Personally I'm voting for east/west oval (I've become a big fan of spread).

I think a one tone ring would look best, perhaps an emerald cut??? My second vote would be the ascher

Yeah. No, she likes the two tone. Just doesn''t know how it would look with a stone other than a round brilliant (especially a step cut). She apparently has alot of yellow gold jewelery and wants her ring to work with it all .

personally i think even the round looks awful--like its just sitting there on top of all the strands of band....................not much help i am afraid but i think square/geometric shapes would look strange

I cannot help with the design but I think the design of the bands is cool! I love the wavy look. Hopefully Irina or Anna will see the thread and helo you out. THey are just fabulous!

Well here''s my attempt at an oval set east-west. Not the best but at least it gives you a visual...

she likes the look with the round... but doesn''t want a round again. As for the geometric shapes thing... yeah, that''s what we were thinking.

DIAM100 THANK YOU. That answered that question... it looks terrible with an east west oval.

Perhaps a cushion, but an asscher? Definitely not. Everything about that setting screams curves, waves, roundness....and the asscher set on top of it would just look like a mistake.

ditto, a cushion might work. I''m not a huge fan of the setting but I think the round works best. Do you think she might be open to another round if it were a lot bigger

I think a huge round stone on that setting could look great.

OK I''ll stick my neck out here and say an asscher may not be so bad! Will it be a stand-alone ring (just the e-ring) or with the band as well? I love "stand alone" rings, and I personally like the contrast of geometric shapes with softer, curvier lines. I don''t know if it will work with this particular ring, but perhaps someone with photoshop skills will show us....

Have you called Bill and asked to see other views of this ring? Perhaps he has an asscher or a cushion he could hold over the top with tweezers to give you an idea in a pic...

I don't want to take Bills time for this, honestly.

She hasn't picked a shape... or really a setting-- she liked that one because of the two tone-- not so much the shape of it, I think.

As for a bigger round... *shrugs*... don't know... they are more expensive per carat it seems... but because of the nice spread it's something she hasn't ruled out. She DID say she wanted something 'unique' this time though. And her chief complaint about her round solitare is that it's too 'done.' But then, IMO, classics are.

Doesn't want a halo though. Ruled that out early on.

The one setting we both like (not that my opinion matters in this..LOL) is the champagne setting by WF... but she wants something 'like it' only two tone.

I suggested she contact them about a custom job... and they have lots of diamonds and can find a good upgrade (since you have to buy the stone from them to get that setting. She's thinking about putting her stone up for consignment at my jeweler for the upgrade). But all the WF controversy recent has made her wary.

Gypsy, would she considering consigning her stone with Bill? just a thought, then she could use it as a trade or the $ towards a new stone and that setting (if she really likes it). Also, if she thinks she''d really be into that setting, I''m sure Bill would send it out for her to look at, try on etc. Just and idea. You can also ask Bill if the head can be changed for a different shape or larger stone.

To me, that is like saying, "I don''t want to breathe air, because I breathed air when I was with my last man."

A round brilliant is classic and neutral. I don''t think she should try so hard to go different. If she had been proposed to with a marquise, I could see avoiding that fancy cut....but a round? I''d stick with what she likes...

Yay Irina to the rescue.

I actually really like the pear with that setting.

Oh a pear looks great in that setting, thanks Irina!!!!

I think it is unique. But, I am very symmetry oriented and think it needs another yellow band on the other side to balance it. Maybe she could do a ring with plat or white gold, that fits into a double band 9so that bands function as a guard) but the two bands are soldered together so there is no spin...just a thought...

I like the pear best. I tend to like a center stone that sticks out across the band, rather than sit on it..don''t know if that makes sense....like how the assher just fills in the same space, while the pear changes your eye to look up and down.

This might be a little off topic but my dying curiosity will not shut up. What is the recent controversy with WF?????????
