Hi everyone! Just thought I would pass this by all of you. I am considering redesigning my engagement ring to incorporate an estate box setting or illusion setting. If the box is approx 6-7mm square, what is the min/max size round stone should I be looking for? I was hoping to get away with something under .50 carat. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think this is larger than what you are referring to. But is this what you have in mind?

Yes, exactly! Any ideas about diamond size set in a 6-7mm box? Thanks for the response.

Do you have the dimensions for the .50ct stone. Is this one you are going to purchase or do you already have it?

I have not yet purchased the stone. The ring is currently set with a 6mm Princess CZ and I love the overall size/proportion of it. I wanted to keep the box around the same size just set it with a genuine diamond. Unfortunately I can''t buy a 6mm diamond!

plus I love the antique look of the box.

I think that you want at least 1mm on either side of the RB to get that look, so if the box is 6mm ti 7mm square, the RB sould only be about 4 to 4.5mm in diameter! That is between .25 and .33 cts. You will need to go t oa jeweler to get a better idea.

Can you post a picture of the setting? I am not sure you want to just plunk a round into the square. Do you want a border like the linked ring or the diamond to sit in the bow flush?
