Hi all,

My sweet DH bought me this antique coin as a good luck charm (I love dolphins). It's Greek/Italian and from ~300BC!!

I'm thinking I'll set it onto a pendant, but am a bit stumped how to make it work. I found a similar coin in a pendant, and it looks nice but I'd prefer a bit more bling.

I have a few rings with old cuts as well as a couple loose stones that I could use towards the project (though not perfectly matched)
- 1 x 0.9 ct
- 1 x 0.5 ct
- 3 x 0.4 ct
- 2 x 0.25 ct
- 7 x 0.1 ct
- 3 x 0.04 ct
- 12 x. 02 ct

I'd love some help with design ideas! Have you seen a pretty coin pendant before?

That coin is such a cool present

I almost want to make it into a signet type ring but it looks a little large for that ?

I like the idea of the twisted rope to bring in more nautical elements. Alternatively maybe a gradient of sapphires or a sea shell as the bail.

I'd personally love something a bit out there like some sort of oyster or octopus holding onto the coin.

@Ontheblackrock15 i was just looking at a Instagram post about a conversion today - the client wanted to add diamonds to her piece. Perhaps something like this??

I love coin jewelry!
I'm looking forward to seeing how you mount it.

The photo below is Elizabeth Taylor's ancient coin bangle bracelets.

What a great coin! I think a pendant is a great idea! I think David Klass would be a good option to make that. Just a word of advice, it is rarely worth taking tiny diamonds out of old pieces to use in a custom project. Let the jeweler source good quality little stones that fit the design. They don't add much cost!

Many different designs! Here are some of my favorites!!

I agree - he did so good! He didn't give me a hint or anything either, so it was a total surprise.

The coin is wider than my fingers unfortunately, so I think I have to do a pendant. That's a great idea for inspiration!

Oooo gradient of sapphires would be pretty! Maybe different shades of blue for the ocean!

I love those two with the diamonds set NSEW. That's a fair point about it not being worth the cost to reuse the stones - thanks!

The NSEW almost gives it the feel of a compass, which seems to go with the nautical vibe as well!

Following this with interest! My DH also bought me a few antique coins as a gift. I've been trying to figure out what to do with them, so I'm excited to see what you end up with !

What a great gift from your husband. I love the coin, as I have a thing for dolphins too.
I’m glad you came back to show us your pendant. It’s a beautiful design that highlights the coin so well.
