Depth Question

I am looking at a stone with 63.7 Depth and about 58.8 table. Can someone explain what happens with larger Depth?

If the diamond doesn't have thick girdle, this combination of the table size and total depth is caused by deep pavilion and/or steep crown.

In general, it causes light leakage ie less light return from the diamond like on this picture for steep/deep AGS0 stone.

In laymen's term what does that mean? Less sparkle or fire? The girdle on the stone is Extremely thin to thick. Thanks for your help!!

Less life, duller stone. However, every diamond shines (some more, other less) and every diamond has its price.

It is always better to consult with independent appraiser.

63.7% would be considered somewhat too deep. Although it may get an AGS 0, it won't be as good as some better cut AGS 0 stones. The price may be a bit less than some others, but when you are going for a top stone, it probably won't be the one you are discussing here.

Look at the AGA Cut Class 1A and 1B grades on my website. If AGS had made the AGS 0 the 1B cut, the consumer would have had less of a problem in understanding what a top grade diamond ought to be. For you, its not too late..
