Hi All,

I'm planning on proposing in the next month and need all the help I can get picking a great diamond! I'm currently leaning towards this halo setting from Ritani:
https://www.ritani.com/engagement-r...-band-engagement-ring-in-14kt-white-gold/6115

And am looking for a diamond somewhere in the 1.2-1.3 carat range and would like to spend no more than ~8500 on the diamond. I've identified these two diamonds:
https://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-1-27-Carat-G-color-GIA-certified/D-5N0J7Y
https://www.ritani.com/diamonds/rou...or-GIA-certified/D-PW2JFX?search_key=d-pw2jfx

I used the tools on the site and as far as I can tell the 1.3 carat, VS2, I color looks good but if the experts here think otherwise please let me know and suggest alternatives. I don't have to buy from Ritani but the halo settings available there looked nice and in my approximate price range.

Thanks for the help!!!

Since you're doing a halo setting, I would go down to H/I. Both will face up white -- only the I may show tint from the side view, but the halo setting will cover that up entirely. Are you open to getting the diamond from another vendor?

Also, I noticed the stone was set a little too high about the halo... I would ask Ritani to set it lower so that the girdle just slightly overlaps the halo. This will look better and make it less prone to damage.

Thanks for the quick reply. I would be open to diamonds from other vendors it just seemed easier to order everything from one source. If you have other suggestions please let me know!

The second diamond I linked to is I color, VS2 clarity and GIA excellent cut. Of the two would you pick this one or there flaws that I am missing? Thanks again for the help. I'm going a little crazy trying to finalize an order but don't want to have any regrets.

Any other thoughts on this? I'm open to buying from other vendors or considering other diamonds if people think these are a poor choice.

Have you run the above diamonds through the Holloway Cut Advisor to determine if they are >2? GIA Excellent is a fairly broad category

The hca score was 1 and was excellent for all categories. The other diamond doesn't show up so I'm assuming is no longer available.

Also, on a related note, what are people's opinions on ritani quality and relative prices? I'm still open to other options as well. Thanks!!!

I would just get the diamond from a vendor that has a great lifetime upgrade policy AND also carries superideal cut diamonds AND a wide variety of halo settings. Eg. Whiteflash or Good Old Gold, Brian Gavin, CBI. WF carry Ritani settings and they also have a partial upgrade policy for settings, not just the diamond.

My diamond came from Ritani, and my setting is from the Ritani Masterwork Collection. It took a long time to sift through many diamonds to find one that was within budget but hit my criteria. The quality is amazing!
