Hi,

I would appreciate some help in deciding between two cushion cut diamonds from Brian Gavin:

Option 1:http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d.../0.722-h-vs2-cushion-diamond-ags-104065050010

Option 2: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d.../0.815-g-vs2-cushion-diamond-ags-104063634002

Both diamonds are in line with my 4Cs. I am leaning towards Option 1 as it is more within my budget, once the cost of the band is added.

Could someone with experience with cushion cut diamonds take a gander at the above stones and tell me if they look ok?

Much appreciated,

Mark

Definitely the bigger one. When everything else matches up we always recommend going for the bigger stone if you can afford it. They're bot cut beautifully.

Thanks for the reply!

I was seriously considering the bigger one until I factored in additional costs.

I am Canadian so I would have to pay additional for the exchange rate and 13% tax.

This would place the .815 plus band at a price slightly higher than what I was willing to pay.

So in your opinion, they are both well cut with no noticeable flaws?

Thanks again,

Mark

The 0.722 (Option 1) has quite defined areas of 'light leakage' = green areas North East South West, compared to the 0.815 (Option 2). This should give them 2 different personalities when you look at them with your own human eyes.

I would ask BrianG if he could 'show' them to you, like a little video or something, so you can actually see what they both look like next to one another. Diamonds all have different personalities, looks; one of them might just be your kinda vibe, aaaand the one you like the most could even be the smaller one too! :naughty: Making you feel totally at ease with your choice.

Each person if different, but if I had to choose, I think I would go for Option 2 as I do not like obvious contrast shapes (blue), the 0.812ct looks like a lovely mix of everything. Size is not as important to me as what it looks like to my human eyes.

Hope it helps a lil and doesn't want to make you want to pull your hair out

edited: Just to be crystal clear, I see they say light leakage is grey, but the green is also apart of that group when I have looked at d's. It is where the light reflects back at you in a weak way. Good thing in the right places and with both of these d's, the green is in the right places. Just different patterns :)

MV, I am by no means a cushion expert, however, I have seen the Brian Gavin Signature Hearts & Arrows Cushions in person and they are breathtakingly beautiful. They are cut to optimize light performance and sparkle. AGS has graded these cushions Ideal in light performance, cut, symmetry and polish. You can't go wrong with either of these diamonds!

I have one of these cushions being made into a bracelet for myself.. :appl:

Both the diamonds appear to be good on papers. The images are not very clear to clearly differentiate between the two. However, if you are looking to save some dollars, you can instead go for GIA with same specifications.

I think B2C Jewels has the most competitive prices. I have purchased a cushion myself for my fiancée  I have come across the below B2C Jewels diamonds. I think Brian Gavin has 15 days return policy and I am not sure if they offer free shipping. B2C Jewels offers 30 day return policy along with free shipping both the ways :P
