OK, so after careful consideration and reading many happy testimonials on this forum I have decided on a Whiteflash ACA diamond. Here are my requirements and budget:

Budget: $5,000

Shape:Round
Carat:.8-1 (The closer to 1 the better, .9 is preferred)
Color:D-H
Clarity: >=VS2 (unless I can be convinced an Si/2 is fine
Cut: Ideal (ACA)

Am I overthinking this or should I just go with any of the .8 Whiteflash ACAs that fits my budget ? I think I really get hung up on color, is the color difference between an F and a G or even H visible to the naked eye?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I am by no means an expert but I can share from my personal experience of just purchasing an ACA tennis bracelet and ACA diamond for an engagement ring. The cut of these superideal diamonds is superb and they are cut for brilliant light performance. For that reason, I'd never spend the extra money to go up to a D, E or even F (my opinion). I'm very picky with my jewelry and have mainly F and G color diamonds. My recent purchase was an "I" color ACA...oh my goodness this thing shines, blings, and is bright white. I've put it next to my F and G and truly can't tell a difference. It's only on the rarest occasions that I can see a glimpse/hint of tint and that's with me looking for it.

Becca at WF was amazing working with me. I'm sure they could put a few side by side for you to show you the difference. If it was me, I'd go for a lower color, larger ACA with VS clarity.

I'm a very happy "I" color ACA owner! I'm truly blown away by the diamond and it's performance. HTH :twirl:

You might want to look at their "expert selection" diamonds as well (one notch under ACA). They are also ideal cut and gorgeous. You'll have more to choose from within your budget and get closer to the .9 that you are wanting.

Looks like there is only 1 .9ish H in your price range and it is an Expert Selection...the idealscope shows ever so slight leakage under
the table but probably not noticeable in real life.

A handful of I's in your budget in the .9ish range. I kind of like this one because it is showing up as 6.3mm

Here is the only ACA in your budget at .9ish

If you want to stick with H or above then there is this one. It faces up around 6mm and is a G VS1.

This is all great info, thank you soo much!

An ACA or even Expert selection will be a great choice. As for seeing color some people notice it more than others. I think an I ACA will be white but IMO I like the iciness of colorless diamonds. Once an ACA is mounted unless you hold an I by an F or and E you probably wouldn't notice the difference.

I would also trust WF's opinion to look for an eye clean Si1.

What about this one?

I should say my budget is $5,000 for the whole ring, buy my SO just wants a simple platinum band, so <$4,300 is my diamond budget.

Thanks Again!

That's a fabulous choice! I have ACA diamond studs that are H VS2/SI1, and I think H VS is a great choice for a ring stone! I do think many choose I color to get more size, as well. So either would be fine because the cut does make them very bright, brilliant, and white!

Looks good to me, too! I prefer H's (if given an option) b/c there is less tint from the side compared to I colored diamonds.

I think you could probably drop to SI1 for .8 to 1.0.

I toiled over whether to pay the premium for a VS2 but on the advice of Whiteflash (Sheerah) I went a grade better in terms of colour and dropped to an SI1. They said it was eye clean and at the time I was very nervous as the magnified videos showed some pretty clear wisps running through the table. There was no need to be worried though as it is totally eye clean and not just from the normal 10". I've had the stone right up to my eyes and can't see a thing in it.

I've also just had my ring appraised and valued in the UK. The valuer was amazed at what I paid given the quality of the stone.

Good luck!
