Deal or no deal?

I am in the process of purchasing an IGI certified diamond (I know GIA/AGS is preferred, but bear with me here) and need to see what some of you folks think about it.

Price: $5700+

Round Brilliant
1.26cts.
6.95 x 6.98 x 4.25
Color: G
Clarity: VS1
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good

I don''t have the table/crown/depth info yet, but am working on that. That said, just based on what I have here, what are your initial thoughts? If the other specs check out, am I getting a good deal or no?

Price is on par with online stones of labs other than GIA/AGS, price around AGS/GIA stone of H SI2/ I VS2. Diameter looks good.

Yes. I inspected it personally this afternoon via loupe and 30x scope. Clean as a whistle and looks sizable. There was another one I saw with roughly the same specs, slightly smaller dimensions (6.75 x 6.84 or something like that), but if was an F in color. It was over $11,000, so this one looked to be a steal.

Do you like how it looks. Does it sparkle in a variety of lights (not just the jewelry store)? If it does and you like it, then go for it.

Yes, I think it looks very good. I think it''s a great value from the rest that I saw, but I just wanted to be sure I wasn''t alone.

Get it independently appraised if you buy it just to be sure it is as stated, or at least not too far off.

Working on that as we speak. I''ve made arrangements to be able to return the ring as late as June 1st since I won''t be giving it until late May. It''s actually for our 8th anniversary (an upgrade over the original); 10th anniversary of when I first proposed.

Hoping she says "Yes!" again.....

I do have a new question now. I pulled up the diamond certificate online and noticed one piece of info that was not on the card: It is noted as having STRONG fluorescence. It does not indicate what color fluorescence, just that it's strong.

At first, I was concerned. I hadn't noticed anything looking at the diamond except that in sunlight, it emits all sorts of rainbow colored "specs" on everything around it...very cool looking.

So now, I really don't know what I should think. It seems like this is fine and just a personal determination. I'm okay with it as it is I think, especially because the stone is SO clear. I can't explain it, but the top of the stone looking down is like a big, clean window to the center of the stone. No inclusions, no "milkiness", etc.

What are your thoughts? Could this become a problem in the future...i.e., could the stone become "milky" or cloudy later on?

No, if its not milky now out in the sun then it never will be.

I will get it back out in the sunlight at some point just to make sure. I have it hidden away in a safe deposit box for now until I give it to my wife in May, but I''ll definitely look this over thoroughly. All I can recall from when I was playing with it in the sun before was that it was just incredibly brilliant, very clear.
