DBTY necklace: .25 pointers?? what size is best??

Everyone, trying to decide on what size diamond to get for a DBTY necklace. Does anyone have a neck shot with .25 pt stones? Is a .25 pt stone too big for a DBTY necklace??

Opinions please!! would .20 look better? Chime in!!

How many diamonds were you looking at having and on what length chain?
By .25 pointers did you mean 25 points each or 1/4 points each? I'm assuming you mean 25 points since you asked if its too big. I think that all depends on the look you are going for and the length of the chain. Do you care to share more?

What kind of look are you going for? How long do you want your necklace, and how many stones? I have a DBTY from Whiteflash that is 16" with ten .15 pointers and I find it plenty for me. I wouldn't go much bigger diamond-wise, but it is a personal preference.

Not that big of a difference, yet is is a difference nonetheless. I did not want the stones to look like boulders nor do I want them to look too itty bitty.

I wanted to see what a .25 looked like, wondering if anyone has a neck shot they'd like share!

Don't worry, I think it was just being pointed out that it is 25 point not .25 point if you mean 0.25 carat.

I've never seen a dbty with stones that big but if you want a very blingy look I think it would look quite amazing!

Sorry, I just woke up and wanted to make sure you meant 1/4 carat before I gave you my opinion!

I haven't seen one that big either, when doing my research the biggest I found was 20 points on a 16" chain. It was incredible!
I think it really depends on the look you are going for, soft, delicate and floaty or more substantial and noticeable.
Will you wear it with another necklace?

I believe Bliss' had a DBTY with .15 pointers, but if I remember correctly she had another one made by IDJ which has .20's. I don't recall ever seeing a DBTY with stones bigger than that. I'm beginning to lean towards a smaller size, thank goodness to have like minded souls to bounce around the minutia of these decisions with, and yes, I've seen others wearing their DBTY with other necklaces & that could be a possibility well.

I'm kind of a casual gal, & don't want the diamonds to look too huge on my neck.

Here is one with 20 pointers on a 17 inch chain. I think 25's might be a bit too big on a chain that length (can't believe I'm saying that!)

I'm not sure what your budget it but you may need to take that into consideration before deciding on what sized stones you would like. I'd imagine 25 pointers would be quite costly.

ETA: I wish I was stateside! No I am in Australia.

I just read your thread, it looks like you just went down this road also & landed on 20's, on a 34 inch chain no less! It will be gorgeous

I do like that 17 inch length though, what a good idea--I will do the same.

If you can go and try them on I highly recommend it... I saw one on JbEG with larger diamonds.. .15 I think.. it's lovely.. I went out and tried a few on and I found for what I was planning to wear it with I actually liked the smaller diamonds (SHOCK ) I know...

My concern was flipping which is talked about in some threads... would they be more obvious if they were larger? I'm a tiny bit OCD so this would bother me worrying with them and making sure they were all straight.. I fiddle with my diamond pendant all the time making sure it's centered. Also another question would the culet of a larger stone poke me? Silly concerns but just some of the things I considered when thinking about one... I'm still thinking I don't have one yet.. but I have .12 on my bracelet and I love them...no poking and they flip all the time but I can see them so I fix them all the time... (I need counseling... I have DSS (diamond shrinkage syndrome), I'm addicted to this website) just minor issues.

Yes, the larger diamonds will be more obvious when flipped and the larger culets will poke your skin. So like the other posters here (and I cannot believe I am saying this) 25 pointers might have some negatives. Plus the look will be different. Less delicate. But it can be a lovely look nonetheless. It's just perhaps not the most practical size for a DBTY.

I did sell it... and now I have ordered (GASP!) a DBTY Bracelet from Chris at ERD to match my Diamond DBTY Bracelet... five .15 pts stones...

As for DBTY I tried on a Roberto Coin 7 stone (with DH) and I was shocked.. I really liked it and it was only .32 cts total... but my plan would be to put my cross on it and layer it with my pendant sometimes.. I really want an 18" with a 16" jump ring so I an do both... oh the plotting I'm busy doing... it's amazing I can get anything done!

Hi, I am late to the Party..

I have a necklace with 0,12, 0.20 and 0.31 Stones. Here is the picture of size comparision.



I love love the look of 0.20, but would be happy with 0.15 as well. Bigger stones (like my 0.30) will flip as much as the Little ones, but you notice the flipping with larger stones more... that is the reason I am thinking of upgrading my center stone with the hope that it wont flip.

Wow, how exciting! I think I have never seen DBTY from ERD yet here on PS, or am I missing it? Do you have pics of your ERD bracelet somewhere? I am really interested in Quality of bezels in comparision to other DBTY vendors, like BGD WF and IDJ..

I love Orbaya's - that size would be more appropriate for my lifestyle - but I'd prefer to be living BLISS's lifestyle and wear the .20's!!!

Have you made a decision as to what size stones you are going to go for, sarahb? I know for me, sometimes I've second guessed some purchases ( WHAT??? ya - shocking, I know! ) and I usually hear from my DH after about "you get what you pay for" and "do it once and do it right"... so if any of those two phrases hit a chord with you... I'd go larger if I could afford it, so I wouldn't regret it and then not be happy ..... wishing I'd gone larger right from the start. But that's just me....

Hi guys, finally sitting down after the gym --yuck, love having it done but hate going.

I want to go try on a few IRL this weekend. It's between the 15 or 20, & I'm thinking a 17 incher. With the weekend activities, it needs to happen this afternoon, so am planning to finish my coffee, jump in the shower & go see what I can find.

As far as spacing, I suppose I like 1.4--1.5 ish apart.

I had such a great first time experience with WF, they were my first choice. Is there really a difference in vender on the bezel workmanship? The WF pieces look great to me but what do I know!?

Efriede, I love your graduated necklace. It is really gorgeous. You've given me something to consider.

I have a platinum one from WF that has small stones but I use it for a pendant chain. I do think it looks exactly like the Tiffany so I would definitely get them to make me a 17" when I am ready and I'd make it with 15 pointers like Orbaya's.

I don't recall you saying, but what size is your engagement ring diamond? I didn't think of it until Enerchi made the funny comment above, but Bliss wears a 3 ct diamond so her dby is complimentary with 20 pointers. I am not sure that there are any limits on dby sizes , but I always consider balance when one will be wearing multiple diamond pieces!
