Need some advice please!! What do you guys know about GAL (Gemological Appraisal Laboratory)?
And also is depth 55.9% and Table 67% really bad for a 4.34 carat Round brilliant stone?? Your help is VERY appreciated

Yes that is pretty bad.

Sticking with something like depth: 60-62 and table: 54-58 should at least get you in the ''range'' of a decent cut stone. Table and depth aren''t the whole story though, get all the numbers including crown and pavilion angles.

But it sparkles like crazy! Still bad?

i never seen a rb stone with that kind of specs.
6.gif
it must look like a 4.70 ct. what is the diameter?.

The exact dimentions including the diamter is:
10.67X10.70X5.97
so what do you guys think? its shines like crazy! I got it from the diamond district.
Looks EYE clean (graded.. SI2 by Gemological Apraisal Laboratory on 47th street), Color L, due to Medium Blue florescence, Looks whiter.

Cost 14,000US, w/ a white gold setting,

so what do you guys think? Honestly? THe stone is huge, it sparkles immensely, there are no visible inclusions ( i can tell, i have great eyes, plus i looked at it w/a loop)
What do you guys think of the price?

never heard of GAL. i think you better take it to an independent appraiser and ask their opinion.

GAL is mentioned a number of times on the board here; you might do a search on the letters, or spelled out name. I turned up this reference, among others; they do seem to be located in the Diamond District.

Best,

The price is very cheap....it could be a combo of the L/SI2/Fluor/off-make.

That table and depth is pretty frightening...but if you really like it, which you seem to, then who cares?

Sometimes very off-make stones are beautiful, some eyes like certain looks than others. I had a 62 table and 56.9 depth stone and it was brilliant but lacked other characteristics that I now have in my more ideal cut stones....but that is what I wanted.

Your stone is probably very white and sparkles white but not alot of color going on inside it. I wouldnt' be surprised if it has a bit of a black dead area in the table? Many combo tries on the HCA gave it no higher than a 4. I wouldn't buy anything over 2.5 and nothing over 2 if it was for a ring. Also, thinking the girdle may be dangerously thin on this one too with such a low crown angle that would be required for the cut.
