Step cut on top and brilliant cut on the bottom. Sounds neat. Anyone have any experience with these?

Yes, I specifically looked for a step crown cut with brilliant pavilion faceting once on a stone. The effect is different. You will not get the usual coloured sparkle but large flashes of colour. I feel that this type of cut is best suited for dark toned gemstones.

I think that cut would work for me. I'm not so much interested in that one, though, as it is a bit big. Then again, it is deep (meaning takes up the ct. weight) and I guess larger stones show off step cuts better.

sonoma, which browser are you using?
I''m no whizz, but from my understanding the approach described by Chrono works with IE, but
not with FF - are you using FF?

If so, you need to use the lil button at the top of the text window on the furthest right - the world with
a lil chain link in front of it. You than copy and paste into that and it will be clickable..

Yes that looks like an interesting cut. But the mm size on it is so BIG. Too big for me to set in a ring, but I''m sure some people could pull it off. Maybe you could use it as a pendant?
