Damaged star sapphire?

Hope someone in the know can help me. Just received my handmade engagement ring but noticed a chip in it. Sent photo to jeweller but at the moment they're saying it could be a natural flaw. We didn't see a chip in it when we picked the stone. They want us to send it back to UK to look at it...the photos have been magnified but you can certainly see it with the naked eye, that's how we noticed it. Anyone with any experience in damage to stones please?

First, I'm so sorry that your stone has a chip. My mom's engagement ring is star sapphire so they have such a special place in my heart, they are so darn pretty. I really hope you can get the stone repaired or get a replacement!

Second, I think you might have better luck with this in Rocky Talky or maybe even the Colored Stones board. I think you can report the post and ask the moderators to move it.
