help

my stone has a bad chip and i need someone to polish, repair or recut if necessary. its a large emerald cut so i need the best possible person available.

thanks in advance

Oh no. I would call BGD and see if they will work on it. I know they do recuts so they may also do minor plastic surgery. My other thought would be Good old gold since they also have their own stones cut.

I have contacted Brian....fingers crossed. I am beside myself...

HI:

I have no advise other than to say how sorry I am. Of course you are upset! Hope it is less problematic than you imagine.

cheers--Sharon

For an emerald cut you might also try Singlestone.

I hope BGD can help. Good luck! :wavey:

why? curious as to your thoughts?

Thanks-I know it will have to be recut. Its a big chunk...

It is never a bad idea to get more than one opinion on what can be done.

HI:

What about Yoram???

cheers--Sharon

I'd try Jonathan at GOG. He has multiple cutters cutting his stones and could probably advise you as to who would be best. Yoram is one of his cutters.

I am terribly sorry! I hate to think of your beautiful EC being damaged!

Thanks so much. I am just sick over this. I will try GOG too.

I'm so sorry bgray. I agree GOG and BGD are 2 of your best options and I am sending you dust for the best possible outcome.

Thanks!! I am wondering if anyone has had any experiencing with having a diamond recut to eliminate damage?

I have had a diamond recut because it was poorly cut, and I used BG since he has ideal cut rounds cut for him. I'd use GOG for this because they have cutters that cut fancy shapes (and he has great ideal round cutters as well). I am assuming the diamond must not be insured or you wouldn't be asking about recutting? I know sometimes people take the risk on large diamonds that are very expensive to insure. If it is insured, I would replace the diamond if it is going to really reduce the size and value of the stone.

Where is the damage on the stone? I think no two stones are alike when it comes to damage, so it really has to be evaluated as a unique piece. I am not sure anyone else's experience would be all that relevant to you.

I have an Eightstar that's a recut. I wasn't the owner when it was damaged and repaired, but I know a bit of the history. It started life as around 2.10 ct, I think an OEC or Tranny. It was graded an H color by GIA. After Eightstar did their magic it came back at 1.57 ct, GIA graded it an I VVS-1. It's a high I, another grader could have given it the H. Here's a pic.
