I am looking to change my e-ring setting and am trying to search for a dainty, perhaps antique-y setting as the diamonds to be placed in it are OMCs. The stones going into the new band are centre stone =.75, 2 side stones=.18, and 2 small side stones=.03, and I attached a pic of my 'old' e-ring. As you can see in the picture I've attached, my old setting is kind of chunky and I'd prefer something much daintier.

I'm changing my e-ring setting as the yellow gold is causing my finger to turn black (reaction to an alloy in the yellow gold). I just got a new wedding band, it's a thin (1.5 mm) 1/2 eternity band in white gold and I'm looking for an e-ring setting that is also thin. My worry is that a vendor won't want to simply sell me the setting, without stones in it. Plus, my diamonds are OMCs which makes me think it will be difficult to find a mass produced setting that will fit my stones, as I don't know if a .75 OMC is the same size as a .75 RB ... sigh!!!

I'd love to know where to look for inspiration -- I'm okay with simply having the centre stone reset and keeping the other diamonds for something else, or making it a 3 stone, ettc--It doesn't need to stay a 5 stone. Any brilliant ideas? I'd love to see any links to dainty/antique-y e-ring settings. My eyes have glazed over after looking at several pages of the SMTR file :) and I can no longer search for settings I like that way! Plus I don't know what would look good for OMCs and would love any input.
Thanks in advance!

This website is one of my favorites!!

Antique Engagement Rings

*M*

I second this- he has a couple 3 stone rings ready to go in the engagement rings section- you could call and ask if he would sell just the mounting to you, he probably would. Leigh is a great guy-but I recc''d calling not e-mailing.

In regards to the filigree... please make sure to check the quality of it in depth. Recently when I was at an antique jewelers she had replica antique filigree compared with antique filigree, and there was quite a difference. Not to alarm you or scare you away from it (goodness knows I would LOVE filigree), just something to keep in mind when looking at these pieces.

Thanks for the advice, good to know. My mom''s e-ring is antique and has filigree with OECs and it''s stunning. My uncle actually had some filigree added to my aunt''s e-ring b/c she raved about it so much. I guess the strands of metal could be quite thin and flimsy, on certain ring settings.

I am also starting to love settings that have the centre stone flanked by a set of tapered baguettes, although I''m not sure if this officially is considered ''vintage'' or antique looking. I also don''t know if this would look great against a thin diamond shared prong band. Guess I''ll have to go to the maul and try on some styles this weekend w/my wedding band.
