This little AVC is not the giant-est jewelry project but someone said I should make a thread. Plus people tend to search for posts on AVCs and we don’t see a lot of posts on under-1-carat diamonds so maybe this thread can help someone out.

Size 6.5 finger, 14k yellow gold, 0.725 ct., H color, VS2 clarity, 5.5 x 5.2 mm AVC by Distinctive Gem. Thanks @Rhino

It’s beautiful—the AVC is gorgeous and the setting is spectacular.

I love it!

This is a really beautiful ring. I love AVCs! It has so much presence

I think many of us have a deep appreciation for diamonds that aren’t huge! They are delicate and feminine

Story: When I was an 11 year old girl, I got the coolest gold-plated fashion ring at a swap meet. I wore it on my middle finger until the gold plating wore off. Every day I wore that ring. It went with every outfit, and I had something pretty on me at all times. Time has passed and maybe they don’t make gold plated rings like they used to — I have not found any that could withstand daily wear the way that old ring did. But for some time now I have been longing for a ring that, just like my childhood one, could go with every outfit, was really comfortable, not too big, not too small, and kind of sweet. Now I found one to wear on my right hand almost every day.

For this ring I wanted a natural diamond, with a lot of fire and great light return, but not splintery like a MRB. I previously bought a LGD AVR from Distinctive Gem and was so happy with the diamond. The AVR does not go dark at any angle. So I figured how about an AVC. There is a premium cost that comes with the quality of the August Vintage cut. But if you are reading this thread because you are interested in a diamond <1ct, or you are on a budget, you may be surprised how many options there are for natural diamonds under $5k even for an awesome AVC. I do not wear large diamonds very often and wanted a stone around 5.5 mm so this natural 0.725 ct AVC was a fair deal for a great quality diamond.

Technicalities — I prefer white diamonds but for this antique-y, soft, pastel-reflection aesthetic the H is fine. “Near-colorless” is a good description. The AGS-graded H is definitely not bright white, and in some light, when paired with yellow gold, looks golden. Most of the time it looks warm-white with pastel colored reflections. FWIW I like this color more than my GIA graded OEC with K color.

Check out the illusion of size from that faux double bezel. I was not reaching for size but if you are, this design will add some spread for you. For comparison of size — and facets and color — here is the AVC 0.725 next to a AVR 1.2 IGI-graded G with 6.7mm diameter. Same ring size.

For those of you who are price conscious but still want some size, a less-than-three-quarters-carat AVC in this type of setting would give you more finger spread for a heckuva bargain. Even with a natural diamond.

Setting is solid, customer service was great, and I will go for ring #3 from Distinctive Gem some day in the future. Thanks for reading!

Love the rainbow flashes from the combination of the H color and the gold bezel! So pretty!

It looks amazing! The setting shows it off beautifully as well.
Now that you have and AVR and AVC are you finding you have a preference? What’s next, the big oval?

What a gorgeous stone!

Love the stone! And LOVE the setting! Can I ask where it came from? It's just the most perfect size on you!

Congrats on another beautiful baby - I adore your collections!

ETA @oncrutchesrightnow - do you have a favorite? I'd love to hear....

Its really pretty @oncrutchesrightnow ! I love the yellow gold and the bezel/halo really make the stone pop!

Beautiful!! The setting complements the stone perfectly and really makes the stone's brightness and fire POP! :appl:

Thank you everyone :)

Thanks! Hmm… a gold bangle and a tennis bracelet will cost less so those are probably next… but the big oval when it happens might end up being from Distinctive Gem.

I could stare at the AVR all day long and am considering resetting it so I can wear it on my middle finger without abandoning all my other size 6.5 rings. First world problems. Honestly I did not think I would wear a 6.7 mm diamond so often.

Thanks! The setting was on DG‘s website in the collection of rings that Jonathan had designed from scratch or else may have modified from other designs. He did CAD-ify it to fit this diamond.

Love this ring! So much presence for its size.

Thanks. I wasn’t going for size but I hope the lurkers who want finger coverage consider getting an AVC in this kind of setting. It looks like a carat-sized cushion and gives my 1.2 ct AVR a run for its money.

The AVCs are so cool, I’ve never heard of anyone who didn’t love theirs. And there are lots of options under one carat — willpower boost needed — so lots of possibilities for anyone who wants one of these pretties. Swear I have not been bribed for gushing.

BEAUTIFULY GORGEOUS!!! My favorite cut of all time and a gorgeous setting to show it off :kiss2:
