waht diamond would you choose? I’m having a hard time deciding. It’s between a D 0.65 si1 or a I 0.75 vs2 both are heart and arrows and eye clean...is there much of a difference in size between the two? Such a hard decision.

what are the dimensions of the two? carat is a weight, so I tend to go by dimensions

You will not see huge difference in size if only you will hold them one in front of another ,but you will see a huge difference in color from the side :)) so it’s up to you :) D color diamonds are def beautiful with their crisp white look ,but I think I would bigger I stone

D 0.65- 5.58 - 5.61 x 3.41 mm
I 0.75- 5 . 7 9 - 5 . 8 2 x 3 . 5 8 m m

hmmm a .2mm difference. That's not really that much, but I think I'd go for the better clarity "I" in this situation since it's also bigger. If they're both ideally cut, then you can't really go wrong either way :)

Here's the size difference of a .65 and .75 using the default sizes on a size 6 finger 2mm shank...

The difference of color is practically invisible given size.

Why are these two the only options? Can’t it be an F/G/H compromise? Otherwise, I would probably go for the D in this size. What is your budget?

Thats funny SimoneDi...I would go for size in the size range! I's got big fingers though :P2.

What is the size of the wearers finger?

What are the color preferences of the wearer?

I have an opinion, but it's not relevant. My preferences don't matter. Neither do those of anyone else here.

As long as both stones are ideal cut, then I'd go with whichever the wearer wants. Theirs is the only opinon that matters. Do they want color or size? In that size range .2mm is a significant jump.

If they are not ideal cut, I'd scrap them both and start with ideal cut stones. Hearts and arrows doesn't mean ideal cut.

:D I just think that there is something special about having a D colored diamond and I am not even a color sensitive person! (My own diamond is an I). But because I don’t find the size difference to be significant, I would go for the D. However, I am not sure how the two are approximately the same price. OP, can you please post reports? I feel like there may be something better out there. :P2

See I’m not sure I kind of want to go towards the D because I love the colorless look and I’m afraid to get any kind of warmth, but I’m not a diamond expert obviously lol I have a size 7 finger so I feel like I have big fingers which makes me want to go towards the bigger one. They are both excellent cut according to GIA

These are just two a jeweler sent me in My price range and is about..so I’m open to looking more I just don’t know exactly how to look. I don’t want to get a bad stone. I was looking at Brian Gavin and good old gold

Can you see these differences of colour and size in person ? Neither is great difference, so it is difficult to choose ...

I would take the size and clarity over the color.

No because I’d be ordering it online :( I know that’s what makes it a hard decision

Okay so let me help you out.

This is a 6mm diamond on a 7.5 finger. IMG_3074(1).jpg

My first diamond was an F because I was nervous and conservative. I wear a K now. Happily. If you post your metro area the posters here will be able to tell you jewelers that are worth your time to visit so you can find out your color tolerances in person. It is worthwhile to see in person before making such a large purchase.

Thank you so much for your advice! I will do that. I’m in Decatur, Illinois but willing to travel a couple hours.

I think that diamond looks big on your hand!

Ok.. please post your budget if you are open to having us help you find a diamond. Also, what kind of setting you would be looking for?

2500 is the most I’m willing to spend and would like to try to keep it on the lower side of that if possible. I’m wanting a round diamond and I will be doing a solitaire. I’m really not wanting to go under a half carat.

I would also do the I over the D for size. And like Layla said, it's really up to you & what YOU want.

I found a setting on Ivy and Rose that is both reasonable & pretty. But mainly looks a lot more expensive than $225. Only problem, the description states it's made for a 6.30mm. I would contact Ilya & ask them if they can make a smaller head for whatever stone you choose if you need to go with a new setting. Plus, they do have a lot of other rings too so I would take a look.

**Edited to add: the description does in fact say they can customize to fit any size stone. :-D

@Kassie Jack Lewis Jewelers in Bloomington is my local place I use! It’s one of the jewelers I use. Lol. :lol-2: You could try some things on in person to see what you do and don’t love—and what color range you want. They have what they call their “flame” diamonds—ideal cut. So you can also see the differences in cut quality while you’re there. It’s worth the 60 minute drive to check things out—then let the ladies help you find the best deal for what you’re looking for. :) Jack Lewis made my diamond/sapph anniversary band in my avatar.

Oh sorry about that! I guess I got confused on that one. That is my budget for the Stone only, yes. I’m willing to spend up to $600 on a setting.

I have a D SI1 diamond and I love its crispness. I'd choose the D over an I even if the I is 10 points larger.
