Irishgrrrl''s thread about her eye exam and plan to get contacts inspired me to start a thread about cute glasses. Recently at 33 I got my first pair of glasses. I found out after not having an eye exam for 10 years that I have become a bit nearsighted! My husband and best friend both wear glasses, but I was a bit nervous to get some. There are so many cute styles out there these days! I love my new glasses and have gotten a ton of compliments. Now I have my eye out for a second pair

Anyone have cute glasses? Please share, especially if you have pictures!

This pair also had the added benefit of a rather large Tiffany & Co. blue box!

A little jewelry sparkle for the face - totally "me!"

Those are super cute!

Good thread. I had to get new glasses recently and was extremely frustrated at the oddly homogenous styles at the moment. Usually there's *some* shape variation out there among the black plastic frames (my favorite style), but this year they're all rectangular, which is way too heavy and masculine for my face. I had to try on what felt like every single style in the store! Finally found some with a more cat's-eye shape but they're still fairly angular compared to my preference- it was really, really hard to find ones that angled up even slightly across the top of the lenses, which is what I really wanted.

I'm pretty sure I tried on that Tiffany style- if I recall they were pretty similar to mine, but even the subtlest difference made them look weird on me.

I attached my new ones- Ralph Lauren frames, style #6036, with the lenses that darken outside. (LOVE those, though you still need sunglasses for driving, as UV light is the trigger for darkening the lenses.)

ETA: They look pretty identical to yours, w/o the sparkle

. I still miss my older ones that got mooshed; the new ones are OK but I liked my more cat's eye shaped ones better. I think the RL ones have a bit of a curvier line across the top.

LittleGreyKitten, those are cute glasses! I don''t remember seeing those when I got mine. I am sure I would have loved them on! I did tell the salesman that my new glasses had to have some sparkle.

Oh glasses! I''ve been wearing glasses since I was 4 or 5 and recently (in the past 3-4 years) it''s become so difficult to find glasses that I like right away. I used to be able to find some frames in one day, but the last time I had to get glasses it took me going to every place that had eyeglasses (even walmart) and finally finding some that I loved out of state! They just so happened to be Coach, which I love but I couldn''t find anything else that had the same shape.

Btw, I love glasses with some bling on them!

I have glasses but wear contacts most of the time. If I purchased an expensive pair of frames I am quite sure they would be lost or broken in no time. The frames/lenses I possess now I''ve had for 9-10 years, they''re cheapies from Lenscrafters. They''ve been through scratching, dropping, breaking, being chewed on by puppies, you name it. They are indestructible. LOVE the Tiff''s and RL glasses, though! Mine are tortoiseshell and oval shaped, but I love the boxy shape of the ones you all posted. Hmm. Next trip to the eye doctor I''ll have to try on some new frames.

I have no idea if these qualify as "cute" or not, but they are the first pair of rimless glasses I've ever had. Alas I must send them back next week because they got the bifocal line too high AND the distance prescription is too weak. My doc backed off quite a bit from my current prescription, and I was a bit taken aback and disbelieving. Basically the strength he put me in was the same strength I was in 7 years ago. I was pretty docile about it, even though I had my doubts. Sigh...so now, I have to pay the price in time to go BACK and get them re-done. Inconvenient. Oh well, here they are.... ETA: They are not actually gold, they are a pale lavender color. I snagged the wrong color. But you get the idea...

Pinkstars, those are the exact style I was looking for too! They're Coach, you say? Do you happen to know the style name or number? I might need a backup pair- I really miss that style, it was popular about 7 years ago I think, and I had two pairs that finally broke and they were definitely more flattering on me rather than the more angular ones now. Great find!

I love my Coach glasses. I got them for $80! They have some bling on the sides, but not too much.

Oops, that was too small!

I too, have Coach glasses.

Yes those are Coach, the style name is Elana the number on mine says 525.

These have been my glasses for the last year, Converse DJ. I'm a guy and this was my first pair of glasses in a little while, so they're fairly plain, but people say they look nice on me. They almost look like they don't have a frame all the way around the lens, but they do, it's just a light silver color. I also have Transitions lenses that darken in the sun. They look nice with the black frame

These are my NEW glasses that I just ordered a couple days ago! D&G model 5069, the front color is gunmetal and the sides are tortoiseshell with a strip of steel. This one doesn''t have a frame around the whole lens, and I''ve gone with Transitions lenses again and had the exposed edge polished, so it''ll look glassy clear instead of frosted like usual.

I love looking at glasses! I desperately want a pair like the 1st 2 or Pinkstars'' or BeachRunners etc, but the ones I''ve tried on look dumb on me. I look better in the kind like Ksingers and Shimmers. JD walks in and tries on a couple and he''s picked them out in 10 minutes tops. I spent over an hour, tried on every pair in the store and took 3 home to decide on, asked everyone who came to the house and it took a week. Our local place doesn''t have the selection that bigger stores have tho, so I think I might jot down some of these names/numbers for when I get a new pair this Spring. Helpful thread!

I love that second pair you posted lestat!
I''ve had the same pair for bout 5years, so i don''t think i''ll find a pic online..they are armani, quite a simple style in a warm brushed steel with tortoise for the sections that go behind the ear. I guess they must be a lil cute, as i do get compliments whenever i wear them.

Actually i had a mini-meltdown last week when i left my glasses behind at a conference and thought they were lost,as it literally took me ages to find a pair that suit me. I envy those ppl who suit any glasses/sunnies!

Ladies, where are you getting the Coach glasses? Shimmer, I especially like yours! I might . . . MIGHT . . . need to get a back-up pair of glasses to wear on days when I don''t want to wear my contacts, and I think some of the Coach styles y''all have posted might look OK on me. I hate the way I look in glasses, but I LOVE all things Coach!

Love ''em! Thanks for all the great pictures!

Shimmer, what a great deal!!!

BeachRunner, I love that shape! I wonder if those would look good on me?

I think I want a back-up pair in tortoise shell (maybe with a secondary color).

My husband and I went to get him new glasses and RX sunglasses yesterday. He got a really nice pair of Burberry glasses, and some fun Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses (in blue and green).

Thanks! They are not as dark as the picture shows, more of a light silver. I got them from here but it looks like they are $100 now. They are the Coach Donna Gunmetal style. I might order another pair, I love them so much! This place is great too, I got them in two days after I ordered!

Wow! Where were you shopping Shimmer?

I have to say, this has been one of the most difficult decisions I''ve had to make. I have tried on hundreds of frames and been to several shops. In the end I opted for Lafont Atmosphere. I too am going to start wearing these all the time. Heck for the price (C$1133 incl. lens), I feel like I should be wearing them to sleep in!

I''ve ordered transitions (darken in UV) and they are progressives (Bi-focal without the line). Trouble is, they won''t be robust enough for me to wear when I work in the summer, so I may well have to get a pair of prescription/safety/sunglasses as well - Ka-ching!!

Shimmer, I just looked at your link and saw that you ordered them on-line. Did you find them in a B&M store first? I contemplated buying on line, but really felt that I needed to see them on my face before I made a decision. As these are my first pair of prescription glasses, I also thought it would be a good idea to get the support from a local optician.

Interestingly, my frames were C$444. This was from an opticians in the health care building close to wear I live. The same frames in a retail store less than 20 minutes away (Midnapore vs. Britannia), were a whopping C$220 more expensive!!!

Love these!

Here are my glasses...ive had them around a year. They are made by Banana Republic- the "Gena" frame. I wear them quite often.

Ok, here is the pair I got from my local BM store a few months ago in the brown color. I love the way they look on me but after a few months I realized I'm not a huge fan of the metal face part, it bends and twist if I hug someone and they constantly leave marks on my nose even when the nose pad is so loose they are falling off.

35_02.jpg

So then I found this pair by the same designer online, very cute and plastic! Not very expensive to order, $110.00, but I'm leery about ordering RX glasses online.

35_19.jpg

So...I ordered these $8.00, yes $8.00 including RX lens glasses from the same online vendor just to see if the RX will turn out how I want before sinking a little more into the pair I really want.

ETA-I just ordered these yesterday but I will update you on how I like them and how the lenses compare to my current lenses.

Hi Gailey,

I didn''t try them on first, but I did have an idea of the measurements I needed from my old pair as I have a narrower face. The place I linked above ship so quickly and have a great return policy, so if you aren''t in a rush to get the perfect pair you can keep reordering until you find the right one, or just go to a B&M and note the styles/measurements you like.

My DH actually worked for this company back when he was in college, his first job! They were much smaller back then and only did contact lenses. So that''s how I learned about them, they are Canadian too (but drive across the border for US shipping, so I''m sure Americans get quick shipping too, well that''s what they did 8+ yrs ago when DH worked there).

My sister didn''t want to buy without trying them on and she paid over $800 for her B&M glasses! I think she regrets it now that she knows what an awesome deal I got.

I think I wear cute glasses! Mine are made by Seraphin, the style is called Humboldt.

I just searched online to find a picture of the frames and I can't believe how much my eye doctor ripped me off, I could have bought them for a fraction of what I paid. GRRRR.

It took me forever to find the right frames for my face. I tried on so many different styles, but these suit me best. The best part about my new glasses is that they finally have the technology to make my very bad left eye prescription lens (-4.75) *almost* as thin as my practically perfect right eye prescription (-.075). Yay!

Here they are:

That picture looks very small on my computer. Here''s another try:
