Here is the top of my next shopping list (for a present). I would have never even thought to ask for quality cut in colored diamonds before getting on Pricescope and seeing how much other people care about this! Did anyone put a colored diamond through any light-return testiong? Would these even work?

I would imagine what a cutter might think at the idea of wasting a fraction of any fancy intense pink carat to achieve some extra sparkle, but there are cheaper fancies out there! How about those?

Looks very nice to me. If I remember correctly, it has a 64% depth. A bit deep, but still nice since we're taliking about fancies, where it's all about color. You'll find a lot of shallow or deep stones, depending on what the cutter wanted to obtain (a lighter or deeper color)...

As Giangi says, it's all about color.

When color is irregular in a crystal, the cutter has to work his magic by cutting to get the max effect, and this may mean going way out of the usual round ranges for colorless stones.

Just concentrate on how it looks to your eye - as you should do with any stone.

Yeah. That's my staple jewelry shop... However, I brough about the topic of colored diamond cut, because I am planing to get a light yellow piece for myself (this, as I said, is a gift). This color (could be a Y-Z or so) is actualy cheaper than white stones even VVS, so I am wandering whether anyone thought do cut these to more rather than less exacting standards, since it seems that this would involve less loss for the lost weight and more gain for better sales... Only a thought.

EightStar cuts colored diamonds...

Have you seen any? The technicall comments on their site are so loudly boasting, that I do not know what to think about them! Can I get a stone recut by EightStar? Do you know?

I think 8* would consider recutting for you...just contact them through their web site.

wink jones @winfields has a few pictures of some color questions. i beleive he has a blue eightstar diamond set in a ring of his own. he doesn't really post on this board though. www.winkjones.com

It's nice to see that someone stumbled on this idea too! Thanks for the tip and the pic.
