I'm looking to have a newly-acquired 1.3 carat EC placed into a setting. I'm on a bit of a budget, but I'd like to go the custom route if possible. I love this setting (the top ring), but can't swing it's price tag: http://www.diamondsbylauren.com/index.php/jewelry/semi-mount-ring-custom-made-halo-ring-with-single-or-full-cut-diamond-melee-so3956

Can anyone suggest some vendors that do custom or semi-custom work at a reasonable price? I'm hoping to stay under $1500. I've even thought about LOGR. Thanks!

No, you're not going to get decent custom work like that done for $1500. It is going to be hard to find a good quality diamond halo setting at that amount even with stock cast settings. I really wouldn't go with LOGR to set a nice quality diamond. I'd go with a temporary solitaire until you can do the custom halo. I think Engagement Rings Direct can be a little less than the most favored custom makers like Victor Canera, Leon Mege, and Steven Kirsch.

Hi Zro, I'd really suggest you go ahead and just call David up and chat with him. Tell him what you are looking for, what you hope to stay around and who knows - it just may work out for you! Alternatively, also try IDJ and you could speak with Yekutiel, Tami or Luann there and say you are from Pricescope. Really easy people to chat with - DBL & IDJ - so don't feel intimidated to just call them up! Good luck :))

If not fully custom, they may be able to customize the setting somewhat - adapt the prongs, perhaps - as an example.

And FWIW -I would not compare any of the custom settings with an LOGR ring - not going to get the same quality as you would from one of the PS vendors.

I would call ERD or IDJ as some already mentioned. I think they have good pricing and can work with your budget. I would also just get a temp setting until you can purchase the setting you really love down the road if you want.

I WOULD NOT go with LOGR. I have several of their settings and while they are good for RHR's I would not have it be an engagment ring. LOGR just don't have the quality that you need for in an engagement ring. I don't think they are meant for everyday wear as with my experience they are typically a little on the filmsy side and every single one of mine have some finishing issues.
