Custom reset problems

To make a long story short, I had a custom reset done, and LOVED it until one of the side diamonds fell out. Has been a nightmare ever since. The company had to remake the whole ring and in the end it is not the same. Not the same shape, etc. BUT I am willing to live with it except a couple things are really bothering me. The diamonds right by the halo are not uniform with the rest of the band, and what makes it worse is the gap in the metal and the prongs that are way too high by those two side diamonds. PLEASE, can someone tell me if this is fixable? The metal is platinum (PT900)

Looking at the pictures, many of the "gaps" are uneven all across the shank as well, not just the one you pointed out. Have you pointed this out to the jeweller? I don't think this is an easy fix and might require another remake.

Yeah the setting is not perfect but these gaps are the most noticeable especially with the extra long, sticking out claws :(

Another remake... by a different jeweler. Or order a setting from a company like Ritani, which I am sure carries similar halos.

Agree with Distracts...return and start over elsewhere. If they could have made it right, it would have been right on the first try. I wouldn't try a third time. This is why it is very important to go with someone who has proven they are good at making this kind of setting. I also agree that Ritani might be a good option.

I am waiting to hear now what they will do. This has been remade more than once by the jeweler. Unfortunately the store didn't want to give my money back because it was custom (a custom made reset by Eric Goldman through People's Jewelers) and they also did a wedding band. Now they(the rings) IMO are royally screwed. I really don't want them to send them back to be redone again. I would much prefer the money back so we can take the diamond elsewhere to have reset. It's very disappointing, especially with my wedding coming up! :(

Still waiting to hear back from the district manager. I am so sick about this! (actually embarrassed to say what we paid to have these settings made!) The sales lady told me she doubts I would get any money back because it was so long ago...is she serious?? We had the rings made 3 years ago, but it shouldn't matter if it was 20 years ago! They remade the setting and screwed it up! The rings don't look anything like they used to. Anyone have any advise and what I action I can take if they refuse to help me? (I also have lots of before and after photos to prove the difference)

Can you elaborate on the "the ring was custom made 3 years ago". Are you saying it never showed these issues back then but the head had to be changed out or something, which affected the diamond melee closest to the halo? I'm not quite sure what you mean but you have no recourse on something that was done 3 years ago.

It's a long story, but 3 years ago we had the rings made. Then a couple months later one of the diamonds from the band fell out. Once returned the diamond they replaced with was black. Seriously I don't understand how they could put such a dark diamond in the setting and think I wouldn't notice? Anyway, had to be sent again to be replaced. Then ANOTHER diamond fell out after that, only to get my ring back mangled and not even a circle anymore. It was such an oval that there was absolutely no way it could be fit on my finger. It was sent back again. Fast forward to even more diamonds that fell out and had to be fixed and I will uplaodpictures of befores and afters, as well as what I have now. The ring no longer resembles what it did in the beginning :(

After more diamonds fell out and needed to be fixed this is what I had got back:

Here is what they sent back after they told me the whole band needed to be redone in order to fix the dents and gaps in the ring. The top ring being the before picture. The bottom is the after.

So after not being happy with what they did, they told me they would remake the whole settings and promised they would look exactly like they did in the beginning. This is what I got back this past December 17th (bottom pic showing how it used to look for comparison)

You know... those rings don't even look like they were made by the same people.

Oh... after doing research, Eric Goldman is not one guy, but a reset company with three factories and hundreds of employees. So yeah. Probably made by totally different people. And you're communicating through multiple layers of middlemen.

I would start escalating your complaints through both Peoples and Eric Goldman. I would email Eric Goldman your pictures to show the difference. Maybe you can eventually get your money back. I would pursue it but not count on it.

I would start escalating and give a deadline (say three months?) and if you haven't gotten a refund by then start on a new setting.

That's what my fiancé said!! He said he can't believe that the rings were made by the same person, and I have to agree. I am waiting now for someone to get in contact with me. I filed a complaint with Peoples and they said this

"We completely understand your concern and frustration. However, this has been escalated to an urgent request with our team. Thank you for your continued patience."

Not sure what that means but hopefully someone will get back to me asap with something I want to hear! I think I will contact Eric Goldman's company as well. I will keep you updated!
PS- We have spent in total over $8000.00 to have these rings made, so not getting a refund is not an option!

Why didn't you call it quits even two years ago after all the problems you were having? The rings are obviously poorly made.

I didn't think it was an option back then really. I still had faith that they could be fixed. I didn't know back then all I know now. Lesson learned.
