We're getting my girlfriend's wedding band custom designed by the original creator of her Crossed Trellis engagement ring, Brian Gavin Diamonds. She wanted a 5 stone band that matched the style of her engagement ring, with a setting width the same as her engagement ring. To match the style, she envisioned the shank splitting into 3 and tapering to the setting. We also wanted the rings to sit as flush as possible.
We're being told that splitting the shank wasn't possible in order to make sure the tops sit at the same height and the bands sit flush against each other.
Here are the images we received today:
And here's a quick markup of what we envisioned showing the gap caused by the split, with the problem area circled:
The statement we received from the vendor so far is as follows:
Are these reasonable statements?

The statement we received from the vendor so far is as follows:
1. In order for the height of the 2 shanks to be the same the band has to lead up to the end stone like that.
2. There is no room to make the side prongs on the band split in 3 like the engagement ring.
Are these reasonable statements?
