I do like more elongated cushions but when I dream shop I tend to still come back to ''what would I buy if I were spending my money'' (the semi-practical dream shopping, maybe?) and this causes me to look at smaller stones which I think look better only slightly elongated.

I really like the pair that you posted but not as much as I thought I would. I love asschers and cushions - probably my two favorite cuts if I could afford a larger stone. The ones you posted looked like a combination between the two cuts but not in a way that appealed to me as much as the other stones you posted.
Thanks Addy,

Now thats what I call a real compliment!!!

1. I loved cushion cuts after seeing all those lovely cc rings here in PS. Before that I wasn''t aware of such a cut
2. I love vintage/antique look. There is more art, soul and love in workmanship but also compassion.
3. Cushions have those chunky fires like oec''s and omc''s and I love broad, chunky colorful rainbow-like appearance rather than small sparkles of RB''s.
4. My personal fave is EC but I believe cushions are very popular. I haven''t seen a CC in person maybe if I did I would change my mind.

The first cushion I ever saw was a total dog so I dismissed them for many years but have since seen a couple that while likely not exellent cuts were decent and while they arent my favorite they are ok.
Id rather have a step cut.
From most of the Cushion''s I have seen..., I was never really persuaded that an "Ex-Ex cut" Cushion will be more beautiful than a lesser than "Ex cut"...

On the contrary..., most of the great Cushion cut that I have seen were rated from "fair to a few VG''s"..., mostly "Good" was sufficient to become a great Cushion!

Sounds weird???

I saw my first "cushion" at a B&M and it was actually a cushette! It looks like the shape but in my opinion sparkles more! Here is a link comapring a cushette to a H&A diamond, or you can go to the GOG home web pg and see it compared to a square H&A!

Yes..., some Cushions are cut to maximize the sparkle/brilliance!!!
I guess thats when Garry and Serge mean in regards to "optimizing" Cushions...

But a lot of people love the fact that their Cushions have that certain look, as Elmo said:

"...the less than perfect pattern-symmetry of the old cushion charming to the sterile perfection of the precision-cut round. And when done well, the old cushion doesn''t have to make excuses for its performance."

One of the best lines I have read on the issue...
