Cushion Spinel Ring- What do you think

I just got this 1.73ct reddish purple spinel from Rick at Art Cut Gems. I know it is dark but for some reason I saw it and it called to me. I wanted to put it in a pave setting and i found one at LOGR. I''m going to upgrade to the VS diamonds. What do you think?
