Cushion search GOG

Hi everyone,

I looked at GOG website yesterday and I think I get the ASET images and the DiamXray images. But when I pulled up possible cushions they didn''t seem to have very many in the 1.25 range. I was pretty flexible in color and clarity. Will they search for more diamonds? And do other companies use ASET or diamxray? Otherwise how do you evaluate brilliance?

What type of cushion cut are you looking for and what is your budget? Yes other companies use ASET and Idealscope(similar to Diam X-ray) as mentioned in your other thread. 1.25 is an odd size around 1 carat and around 1.5 carats are much more common.

I am looking at the August Vintage Cushion at GOG. (I was also wondering if August is their brand?). I like the chunkier look.

I didn''t realize 1.25 was an odd size. I was thinking of increments of .25.

My price range is around $6-7K. Preferrably on the lower end.

Color : H or better
Clarity : SI2 (eyeclean)
Carat: 1.15 or more

p.s. I have read GOG is a good price. Is it a good price for the service or do you feel like you are getting great service and a great price. Is a B&M price or better than that. I wonder because it is a B&M and on-line.

yap, August Vintage is their branded cut.

Price, they offer great service and expertise. Most B&M would not have cut their own branded cuts or know how to look for a great cushion, etc.

So I did call them and talked to a Matt. And he is going to email me some videos and put me on a list for their vintage cushions.

I didn''t realize these questions weren''t something that you all couldn''t answer. This site seems to know everything.

A lot of people here know general stuff - stuff about diamonds and sometimes even general *trends* at a particular jeweler or another... but for specific info like when or if a vendor is going to get a specific size - pretty much need to go to them and ask. We can guess, but they have their facts.

Absolutely. It bears repeating as consumer posters we can take consumers that intend to purchase only so far, for many questions the expert vendor is always the best person to ask.

I didn''t mean to imply that I thought you knew the specifics (though that would be nice). Just wondering if in general you knew if GOG does searches (which I found out they do). I talked to them and they seem really on top of things. I already have a video.

Since the August Vintage cushion is their branded cut, I would assume they charge a bit more for that. I like the chunkier cushions, so how would I go about looking for those too. I am really drawn to the August Vintage but they don''t have much in stock currently.

Also, I am looking at their KSI1 1.34 vintage cushion. The video makes it appear fairly white (though warm) and I have never actually seen a K color in person though. I am not too color sensitve (H/I are ok for me) but K is a bit lower than that. Should this be a diamond to get set in yellow gold?

Another good resource is ERD - you can tell him your parameters and that you want an antique style chunky cushion and he can source it for you - he''s right in the diamond district in nyc and you can set your parameters.

I find that the videos don''t show colors as well as real life. K will show a tint or warmth. Setting it in yellow gold is just a personal preference.
