I am getting so very frustrated in my search, as I am feeling I may not be able to get the diamond that I want in the price range that I hope to find it. Therefore, I thought I would come on here to see if the knowledgeable folks here on PS could help me out!

So I had (and still may have) my heart set on a radiant. I love the sparkle and crushed ice look of a squarish radiant, and have been searching high and low for one. However, for the budget in which I am searching, I am worried that I may not be able to find a radiant that doesn''t have that dark ring around the culet, which really really bothers me. Plus, I am having trouble finding SI1 radiants that don''t have inclusions that are very obvious and apparent to me, at least at some angle. So while I am still looking for that perfect radiant (for me), I figure I better start searching other shapes that may not have the dark circle, even if all the other specs are not ideal.

Since I like squarish shapes, I thought the next best thing may be a cushion, based on shape alone. However, I don''t know much about the sparkle differences between a cushion and a radiant. Plus, unlike radiants and other shapes, PS doesn''t provide a cut chart for cushion shapes, so I''m not sure what table size, depth, crown height, etc. I should be looking for.

Anyways, enough rambling. Any ideas? What are the main differences between radiants and cushions? Also, how can I determine whether a cushion has a good cut based on numbers?

When you find out how to pick a cushion or radiant by #''s please tell me and I will sell the info and retire.
ASET is your best bet.
But for crushed ice - radiant and cushion can have it, but in my experiance radiant works best. And that look hides inclusions well. Spread out SI2''s can even work well.
You need realistic photo''s and a vendor you can trust who knows about these stones.

I can''t comment on a Radiant, I don''t know anyting about them.

As for cushions though, this has been by far the most useful chart, at least for me. I can''t empahsize enough that you need to see the stone in person, or really trust the person you''re working with. There seems to be no rules and consistency when it comes to cushions, but if you decide to go that way....

If you want the crushed ice look then you want to stick to plots 2,3,4 & 9, or anyting that says "modified". Lucky for you, these are the most popular cushion at the moment in terms of inventory, so you shouldn''t have any trouble finding one.
