Hi!
Im helping my stepdaughters boyfriend find her a 1 ct cushion lab grown diamond. Outside of Distinctive Gem, anywhere else you’d recommend looking?

Any place where you’d trust them to also make the ring? He likes this one from Brilliant Earth, but the reviews here have been horrendous. I’m thinking we could purchase the stone fromDistinctive Gem and always have DK make the ring. Thoughts?
Thank you so much!!!!

Luckily, that is a pretty commonly available setting from a variety of sellers.

What is the overall budget, for the diamond and the setting? We can help search for some stunning options.

Diamonds by Lauren would also be a good place to find a good cushion cut LGD.

I adored working with Jon at Distinctive Gems though, and will happily do so again later this year. And honestly, I had custom made settings through him for my earrings, and DK was only going to be $50 less plus the additonal weeks of not being able to actually wear my diamonds, and his bench did an excellent job. You might consider asking what the setting would cost through Jon, and if it's close enough, then maybe he can be a one stop shop for the engagement ring. :D

Otherwise, I like your plan of getting help sourcing a gorgeous cushion cut diamond and then having DK make the setting. We'd love to see pictures when this is done.

Budget may have to make accommodations for some tweaks and changes, but here are some examples from JA.

Setting:

Cushions:

I'm not super versed with assessing cushion cuts online, so I picked some out with what seems as having decent brilliance and contrast patterning.

I really like the looks of this cushion cut at DbL!
David has a vast catalog of settings, so I'm certain that the twisted pave with halo can be made by his bench.

@DejaWiz and @vintageinjune - thank you so much for the responses!! I checked in with her boyfriend on the budget and no clear budget other than he wants to make her happy and would be willing to take the time to save if needed. In my mind, I think we could target $5K for the stone, ER and the wedding band maybe. They are so young, I’d hate to see them spend more than that right now - could always upgrade later. @DejaWiz - thank you for the suggestions!! I will review them today, I also like the one from DBL, a nice option and I’m sure he could make the ring. Is anyone familiar with his quality and price point?

I’m a huge Diamonds by Lauren fan! My recommendation would be to reach out to David directly via email: let him know which diamond you’re interested in, and send some pictures of the style of setting and band you’re looking for. He’s great to communicate with, and I found his prices to be very responsible for the quality!

@anangel , thank you for the feedback! I’ve never worked with David before, just DK, so I’ll reach out for sure.
