Cushion in 448 Special...purple

[Love in Bloom]

I finally have pics of my purple spinel ring to share. The setting is a "448 Special" by Van Craeynest. It has 20 tiny chased and pierced flowers on a tapering gold band, with double prongs in platinum. I think Van Craeynest considers it a special because they flowers are pierced out, and they had never made a pierced 448 before.

That''s a very "regal" combination -- purple and gold. The gold really makes the spinel "pop" and the pierced flowers are really the icing on the cake.

LostSapphire - the spinel was faceted by Rick Martin at Art Cut Gems . He's very promt and curteous!

Coati - I wanted a bolder ring and I think this fits the bill. I'm not that happy with the heaviness of the prongs and I already contacted Larry about it. He said I could send it back anytime and he would refine them. Oh, and I'd rather come visit you, it's FREEZING here!!

So I gather my ring was an experiment of sorts. I always find these kinds of things interesting, so here is the sketch VC sent me:

I have been wearing it around and I do think it complements my fall wardrobe. The stone is kind of sleepy so I like to sport it best in daylight....and the tiny flowers? I stare at them constantly!
