Here is another cushion I am looking at..is there too much leakage? This isn''t a shallow stone but it sort of looks like there''s a fisheye effect? Opinions appreicated..thank you!!

I'm definitely no cushion expert. What's the color on this stone, Slammie? Will this be for a ring?

Thanks Diagem..Jelly! It''s times like this I wished I lived in NY so I can pop in and see these in person. Jelly, this is for a RHR..three sided pave with a halo.
I was about to purchase a H, VS2 cushion but thought I should consider this before I do since it has a bigger spread. It is an SI2 which I am nervous about but it is supposedly eyeclean..will know more on Monday.
Here are the specs:

Carat: 1.26
Color: H
Clarity: SI2
Depth: 67.5
Table: 59
Girdle: TN-VTK F
Pavilion depth: 45.6
Crown Height: 18.7
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good
Culet: Large
Fluorescence: No
Measurements: 6.54-6.18X4.17

I think it is a little on the deep side. I also had one of the "modern cushions" sent to me....i.e, like MMMs. I really liked it but I noticed they are cut a little more square. I think I prefer stones that a little bit more rounded on the corners.
Thanks!

Here is the super scary looking feather at 1''oclock. I''m not sure what the inclusion near the culet is..I don''t see anything on the plot. It is eyeclean but waiting to hear if it is visible at let''s say 3 or 4 inches away since "eyeclean" is technically like 10 or 12 inches away.

I''d wait to hear if it''s eye clean or not and go from there. Could be a nice stone.

i''m with Kaleigh..you''ll have to check on the "eye clean" part. The SI 2 in a cushion would scare me a bit..

i like the ideal-scope image

No. I don''t remember any better IS for this shape (not that there have been that many)

Same as above, really. Maybe there''s a bit of something, but too little for me to worry about. I used to until someone demonstrated how much the IS exaggerates it (an old thread I couldn''t find for the life of me). A little live experiment confirmed...

Nice diamond!

Hi Slammie!!!

I understand your natural hesitation with this or any cushion...and wisely so. As I personally found out, cushions are SO individual and what appears via paper or email is not necessarily what you might find appealing in person. I love my cushion, but am looking forward to a more rectangular shape next time. There is nothing wrong with the one I have, just personal preference.

Eyeclean is also very personal. What is ok to someone else, may or may not be to you. Again, its the visual for you personally that determines your choice. My cushion is SI2 and it is deeper than I prefer so it appears smaller despite its weight, but it has a gorgeous eyeclean appeal despite being that clarity. It has largely to do with--obviously--the cut first and then the placement of the inclusions.

I am excited for you SO much...

Hi Deanne!! Hope you are well and loving your beautiful rings! thanks for your advice..and you know what? i just realized you are my cushion twin, you, 1.21, H, SI2 and I''m looking at 1.26 H, SI2..how funny is that?? =)

I will keep my fingers crossed that this is indeed eye clean. Will you find out tomorrow slammie??

I hope so Kaleigh!! Everyone is so busy with Valentines day coming up so they couldn''t get the info to me on Friday but I''ll be pestering them as soon as my DS is down for his first morning nap

Is the large culet anything to be concerned about?

I wonder why a stone would have a large culet...perhaps there was an inclusion there and clarity was improved by slicing it off? The cutter would be sacrificing some weight as well (although minimal)...?

That feather is presumably not at the surface?

Mark

slammie that cushion looks so pretty...both the IS and the image!! i don''t know about fancies and inclusions, but if it checks out it looks beautiful. a right hand halo pave ring, you lucky girl! So does this mean you are back to wearing your beautiful ring set more often too???

thanks everyone for responding! Unfortunately this stone ended up not being eyeclean WF sent it back to the vendor. Will get two more tomorrow...will post images then. Thanks again
