Cushion Cut vs RB Studs

Hello all, my DH mentioned that he could possibly purchase a pair of diamond studs for me & I'm torn between round & cushion studs. I would love a pair of cushion cut studs, but I know they are far & few in between, whereas there is always an abundance of round studs.

Where could we purchase a pair of cushion studs online? Is it a better investment to invest in round studs? I know rounds give off more brilliance & a cushion cut needs to be pretty big to shine right? Which has more bang for your buck? Cushions are my favorite cut after RB. Any advice?

How about rounds with cushion halo jackets? Depending on your budget you could get the studs now, the jackets later, or get both now.

I am a girl that loves shapes I got engaged in a pair then I now have two E rings one is EC and the Other is a 1.66 Trilliant. So I am not afraid to carry a different shape.

I say this because there is nothing more classic for daily wear than round brillant 3x studs. The cushion is to die for but I don't think if I had them that I would wear them every day. Just one girl HO

Budget is about $4000. Wondering if size matters when it comes to diamond studs or is less more? Quality over quantity?

I would always get great cut, but many people don't mind dropping color and clarity a little for studs. I think I color and SI1 is a good combo for studs to get the most for your money.

I have to agree with Heidi that rounds will give you greater size and greater brilliance on the ears than cushions. Cushions rarely have the cut a well cut round can have, and smaller stones need to be as brilliant as possible. Plus, I think keeping the cushions turned the right way all the time would drive me kind of nuts!

However, looking back at the other posts, I will say that the Blue Nile cushions being sold on Loupetroop would be excellent cut stones. They don't face up the size of half carat rounds, though.

As comparison, here is a nice pair of 1 ctw round studs which will have a diameter around 5.1mm for about the same price (H/I SI):

But going up in size, you could do .60 each and still be under $3500 with settings:

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.61-carat-i-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-777256 (have to make sure this one is eyeclean, but these two stones are very well cut and a great match)

To go to .70 each will run over budget unless you go to J color.

Thank you!! So RB is a better purchase then :) are 1ctw (.50 ct each) a good size?
