Cushion CUt - size

My next project will involve cushion cut stones. Not sure what, how many, or what type, but I know I want to do something with cushions! So, here''s my question - what is the smallest I could go and do justice to a cushion cut stone? For example, if I wanted to do a 3 or 5 stone ring, how small could I go before you can''t really reasonably see the cut?

Hi Brelly!

In my opinion, I would think around .50 ct would be about the smallest you could go to appreciate the shape, maybe see if you can view some in person to see what you think?

There''s pictures of a five stone cushion diamond ring in the Diamonds by Lauren website and the 0.95 tcw ring looks very nice indeed: link.

Maybe bigger stones would show the shape of cushions more clearly but the five stone ring looks good to me with smaller stones, too. It''s the usual five stone diamond ring with a twist and with a little more personality, IMHO.

Lorelei - thanks, I think that makes sense. Going much smaller than .5 is probaby going to make it tough to appreciate the cut!


nellen - WOW - that is lovely, and sort of what I''ve been thinking about. I can''t really afford to buy it all at once, so I was planning to purchase the stones one at a time as I could afford them, then have them set!
